I paid about $120 for a new wool coat. But that was 12-15 years ago, so I have gotten my money's worth!

For myself, a Bernina sewing machine (but I got the cheapest one they made, about $1200.00).

For my husband and myself, a new Chatham and Wells mattress. We were going for the Temperpedic until the salesperson said it tended to be warm.... at this point in my life, warm is not good.... I do have 3 temperpedic pillows though!

it would have to be my sony digital 5 mgpx camera: got the tripod & two 1g cards at the same time this february.

definitely worth it just from an enjoyment factor. plus, two months later i used the camera to photograph my sister's wedding (plus rehersal, bachelor/bachelorette parties, shower, etc.), and my wedding gift to her was 300 prints plus a cd, total cost less than $50 after shipping.

Umm..lets see. It would have to be a pair of handmade italian leather shoes that I bought for $150 10 years ago. Had to throw them out last year as they got all mouldy from lack of wear.

My first thought was the set of Calphalon cookware we bought last year. It was $399 but came with a $50 gift card to the store, so really $349.

Then I read the other replies and realized that travel is much more expensive so I'd have to agree with that. We've taken 3 cruises. We spend a week in Disney World each year. We spent 2 weeks in California and Nevada last summer, a week in Vermont this summer. So travel would definitely be the most expensive things we spend our money on.

The most expensive thing I've spent on for myself is the $200 PS2 gaming console. I also foolishly tried to collect Inu-Yasha DVD, which I gave up after the 7th volume, but it did end up costing me $140.

I forgot, we did buy an expensive camera many many years ago. We tried to send it back, but the Sears guy talked us into keeping it. It never did take very good pictures and we never got it figured out either. what a waste of money!

My computer was a christmas gift, but I did have to pay for it! $600.

Just for myself? I had to rack my brain, but just thought of something. I bought a CD changer and a sub woofer for around $500 when I bought my saturn.

Certainly money well spent!!! I think it was 2003 and I had never had a CD player in my car...

Doesn't sound extremely extravagant, but to me it was a lot of money - I think I paid $800 for the car - LOL.

I bought myself a Sony Notebook in 2004. It was pricey but I got a discount for being the last one (open box). It also has TV set up in it and I just put my cable right into it. I wanted d a multi device since I was working at roommate positions or often have roommates and no privacy. I watch TV and did internet on the same device to save space in my room and making moving around much easier.

Was totally worth the money but I currently do not have internet or cable until my goal of paying off all debts in December.

My new Dell Laptop with the printer some ink, etc was $1100 total.

I got a great deal on it and use it for school all the time. Hoping it will suit my needs through Pharmacy school

oh my god! that much?! to think that there are many people who cant buy a food or a pair of clothes.

Well, i bought a shoes. But i wore that shoes for almost 3 years.

Yeah I can't imagine spending that much on a coat! No matter how nice it is.

The most expensive thing I've purchased for myself (besides tuition!) would be my computer...I spent about $1000 (Canadian) on it about 3 and a half years ago.
