You're right, working sucks BUT over 80% of businesses fail in their first year and of those that remain most fail in under 5 years.

The benefit of working for someone is that you get paid. The benefit of working for yourself is that you have the chance to make far more money BUT you will always have to work for it.

I rarely spend more than $1/day at work. yes, it cost me to maintain a work attire and provide reliable transportation, but it gives me something productive to do all day and gets me out of the house without having to spend money.

Also, very early on in my career I worked with some folks who have since retired. Every one of the retirees I have seen afterwards have some regrets about retiring too early. Many feel a loss of identity. PLus, I see the retirees in my neighborhood. They are gossips that need something to do.

Lastly, my coworkers are my second family. As much as I tire of them during the week, I tire just as much of my family on long weekends.
I agree entirely. I like working! When I take off for a beach day once in a while because its relaxing and a change. If every day was a beach day, I suppose it wouldnt be the same.

When I think of "retirement" I think of part time work and the ability to pack up and travel for months at a time to learn and see new things whenever I want, without financial worries.

I love my work except that I work on an unconventional shift ^__^

My dh would drive me crazy if he ever retired. He has to have something to do all the time.

Work of some form, is something will all need. This article started out with some good points, but quickly turned into trash in my opinion.

The thought that spouces or children are a drain is SAD! I agree with PP on that one 100%!

The worth of this article is less then the time I spent reading it.
