High fructose corn syrup is, or so I am told, very bad! It is found in practically every processed food and soda!

Re: what are you doing to stay healthy?

I'm continuing to be very active on Sparkpeople.com . I am a team leader for one of the challenges, and it helps to keep me motivated to keep up with my exercise and making healthier eating choices because of my accountability to my team.

There are a ton of great resources regarding nutrition, exercise, motivation etc as well as a lot of other stuff -- and it's all free! I've been on there since June 17, and have lost a total of 42 lbs!

If you decide to check it out, my username there is "laneerg". I get sparkpoints (used mainly for motivation) for anyone who joins because of me.

I've made a lot of progress making breakfast a habit.
Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.
          Not much meat.
          Lots of beans.
Lots of fiber and whole grain, bulgur, oatmeal, etc.
          Lots of water-seltzer and club.
Alcohol free 7-1/2 years, tobacco free 5-1/2 years.
Walk on breaks at work-good for my head, too.
          Get good sleep most nights.

Working on less high-fructose corn syrup, and non-whole fruit sugars.
Working on more walking to work/more excercise bike.
          Working on avoid migraine triggers.
Working on less volume with food.

so glad to see so many people posting about healthy habits...
i know we try but i can't even think of the specific things other than i know we drink lots of water, tea, crystal lite.... boneless skinless chicken and lots of produce...
we have our vitamins handy for if we remember to take them and we go to the gym together too... unfortunately living here (specifically our neighborhood/street) it isn't very conducive to excercising outdoors...

                Not Enough!!!
We have become vegetarians although that wasn't really for health reasons. We have cut out soda for a few months and then I don't plan on more than one or two a week as a reward. i don't exercise formally but should. The house we bought has steps in it so I get a bit more daily. We need to do more. I might check out that website Frugal Texan mentioned. Our biggest downfall is at night. We snack then. Usually processed stuff since I haven't had the time to bake with unpacking going on. I slip a bit of sweets at naptime too. I am making better choices with the nap time thing though (better, not great).

                  1) Multi-vitamin every day

                  2) Krav Maga 3-4 times a week

                  3) Calisthenics and run 3 times a week

                  4) Eat my wife's great cooking 6-7 times a week

Re: what are you doing to stay healthy?

To keep me healthy despite the irregular sleeping routine, I swim once a week for 4 hours...this serves as my exercise--weekly(backed up by a balanced diet).

I only ate a Big Mac and Quarter Pounder today. I didn't order any fries.

Hehehe, thanks for the laugh, sweeps. I was good that way too! I only had one hot dog instead of two!

Oh, and does this count? Because, if so, I'd gladly *cough* invest *cough* in the relevant exercise equipment.

                          Eating more fruits and vegetables
Drinking more tea, especially green tea
Trying not to get stressed over things I have no control about (yet I want to control!)
Trying to appreciate all that I have and have a better attitude

i am drinking a carnation instant breakfast every morning with skim milk, a bowl of bran flakes, and a glass of vegetable juice, then i eat whole wheat and turkey sandwiches for lunch, and then brown rice for dinner.
drinking lots of water too, and trying to excersize, but my work makes me tired(yeah yeah, excuses excuses!!).
i am just trying to do the best i can, congrats on all the weight dropped!!!
bran flakes help drop the weight because it is a high burning carb that is good for you, and helps give you energy. plus, it has 100% of just about everything you need for you diet of vitamin and minerals. good for mental health too!

we have citrus first thing in the morning to reduce inflamation and cleanse our innards... usually fresh grapefruit, orange, or pineapple...
then after 2 hours, we have crockpot oatmeal or rice.....
it has helped to set a time schedule to eat, doesn't work everyday, due to friends, and kids..
8:30 citrus and beverage, water or coffee or tea
                                10:30 cereal
12:30 lunch, soup, salad this can be a stew
3:30 snack 10 organic almonds or walnuts, green tea or lemonade, fruit
                                6:30 supper
8:30 snack and beverage, usually fruit,
10:30 we eat cheerios and take our calcium pill

thanks for the wonderful responses.... i learned something from each one..
i am trying to cut out the soda, switched to seven up, drink it warm to deter the taste.....uuuukkkk.... but, i still need soda with my kettle popcorn....
