Re: What is your income source

80% of our income comes from me (I'm an attorney, work full tme and do some bankruptcy and immigration cases on the side---my firm does not handle these type of cases)
20% of our income from DH, he does tattoo artwork, murals, other commissioned artwork and picks up other odd jobs.

I also sell stuff on half.com and ebay.

I work part-time, DH substitute teaches while looking for a long-term position. I might be one of those aforementioned people who pays off chunks of debt. For the past few months, I have been paying the debt off a chunk at a time from our EF, which is now standing at $7k (down from $10k, but after a year and a half of DH being in school and not working, I finally got over my reluctance to touch it). I also sell real estate and use commission checks primarily for cutting down debt - they usually go to student loans. I never count the commissions as income, but rather as bonuses, so they are never applied to the general budget but rather to outstanding debt.

Re: What is your income source

Well my dh works ft & I work doing things here & thier most people at least my relatives & friends seem to think I am not employed but I feel I am. So I dont know I do demos & some merchandising & sell on ebay & have garage sales to sale things I get free threwout the year. Sometimes I work for my brother & sometimes I do focus groups one I did last year paid $350 for 2 7hr days & another paid $50 for 2 hrs. So that is where my income comes from my dh works about 60 hrs maybe more a week so with 3 kids I just try to go around his schedule with my odd jobs.

Re: What is your income source

I am a salaried civil servant. Honest pay, but the same every check-no bonuses, OT, commissions, etc.

I have no debt, which makes my money go a whole lot farther. I also live way beneath my means. Sometimes my paycheck seems like a lot to me, but it's because I spend little, not make a lot.

I also have only myself to support; certainly that stretches a paycheck.

Re: What is your income source

My salary from the Navy is our only source of income. It pays the bills, and gives me a little left over to invest.

As far as the extra "big chunks" of money, I have two toddlers and I usually get a decent tax return because of it. I try (and I stress TRY) to use that money to pay down debt such as car loans, etc or I TRY to invest it rather than buy a bunch of junk that I want but don't really need.

For the most part, paying off debt and funding investments is a slow but steady process but I'm not too worried since I'm starting very young and my income increases at least once every year.

90% of income from my full time job
10% of income from my freelance work

In the summer, i sometimes earn extra money thru cat-sitting for someone here in town who likes to travel.

Re: What is your income source

My husband works fulltime as a security and fire system installer, with periodic overtime. He also does this kind of work on the side, as well as set up, install and fix computer systems for people (lots of experience with our own hodgepodge computers.) He trained in, and occasionally does, electronics repair, but with electronics going so cheap, and parts being so costly, he hasn't done that as much lately (though he reprograms many a tv after power outages for our elderly neighbors - for free.)

As for me...I work PT as a teacher assistant in our school district's early childhood program. I sub as a paraprofessional for all the schools in our district. I also do the periodic bulk mailing for our program. Any odd job the district has, I get a call - I'm on the payroll already, and I enjoy the variety and flexibility (around my girls and my mom and taking care of things around the house.) I also manage our finances, and enjoy the challenge of keeping more than less of our hardearned dollars.

My two oldest girls are venturing out into the working world too, and while it doesn't pad my bank account directly, it does indirectly, as they pay a bit more towards their own spending, as well as saving for their futures. My oldest has worked for the school's pool program for a number of years, and recently added a few hours a week cashiering at a local drug store. My second girl babysits, and around my area, it's nothing to sneeze at (she can earn $50-80 in two evenings on the weekend - outrageous, I know, but great for her!)

Too young for Social Security...misplaced that 'rich uncle'...I guess it's plain old work for us!

                            60% DH's salary
                            40% my salary

I wish we could pay off the CC in a month or two. Even with what we make, it will be at least another year, minimum, more like two the way things are going. It's not that what we owe is so huge, it's just that we have a lot of other expenses (plus DH likes to spend money, we're working on that though).
