I have a MySpace but I rarely use it, only to view other people's photos since you need an account to do so. Facebook, on the other hand, is something I use often and am completely addicted to. It's just so handy & unlike MySpace, I don't have to deal with annoying bands I've never heard of trying to add me.
Tabbycat, in the past little while (a few months I think) Facebook has changed so that you don't need to provide your school to sign up. You can use your city, and I've seen people who have "no network" so I think you might not even need that.
I have to agree that it's one of the ugliest websites around. Some pages crash my browser due to the numerous videos, music players, animations, etc. I do visit it to listen to free music. Can't beat that!
I can see how I would be on a site like that and love chatting with people online when I struggle with communications in life due to my limit of hearing.
However... I refuse to even check out the site. I just have too many things to do around the house, concentration at work and my time with my soon to be hubby.
Priorities and time needs to be in reasonable order for me to keep my life on track. The only message boards I go to is this site and a few wedding message boards as I am in the middle of planning a wedding and like to hear from others who are in the same boat.
I'm on it, but I don't spend hours a day on it like most people. I was able to reconnect with a friend from grade school that I don't think I would have been able to located otherwise.
I hate the design of the site, Absolutly hate it. we have a friend with a myspace account and I almost want to give her free space for a real site just so I don't have to go to myspace ever again!

lol... ditto... i found theknot.com very useful because they have local boards where you can talk to other local brides, ask questions about local vendors, read reviews from those already married, etc... it was how i found most of my vendors for the stuff i couldn't DIY...
i also found the following site (related to the Knot) very useful altho it takes a long time to load sometimes...
it contains lots of bios (a knot thing which contain lots of pictures among other things) broken down by category... categories include flowers, local stuff, themes, decorations, dresses, photography, and even a misc bio category with a budget brides bio in it which i think is a good read... all in all, lots of pictures and also some useful information...
