i used to ask myself how many hours did i have to work to buy something, and was it worth it to me.
when i first started at the phone company i made 11.25 an hour, which worked out to about 6.50 after 401k, insurance and taxes. YIKES!
so for a $50 dinner that was going to last an hour, was i willing to work almost 8 hours for a 1 hour dinner? not likely! now, $50 shoes that were going to be worn 14 hours a day 5 days a week 50 weeks a year: definitely worth working 8 hours for.
