$4.79 for milk from the health food store. non GMHO, antibiotic free, yadda yadda. could get if for under $3.79 per gallon if i drove 30 min to the farm where it's produced, but i don't have the space to freeze it so it's not worth the gas.
regular store brand milk is usually $3.29 or so. the brand name (peelers, pet, mayfield are the biggies here) are about $3.79. i'm happy to get up off the other buck to get something from a local farm...
To buy organic is to drive another hour and pay 4.00+ a gallon. Nobody here drinks much of it anyway. Hubster usually uses about a 1/2 cup a day to eat w/his cereal. Nobody else in the house has ever been much of a milk drinker - sorry to be gross and all but it snots up the noses!
It varies a great deal depending on where. At Wegman's, it is $2.09/gallon. That's the lowest I've found at the places we commonly shop. The most is well over $3/gallon.

We tend to have fairly frequent sales at various stores in the area with 1 gallon for $1.99 - and our Walmart always honors price matches on competitors' advertised specials. If nobody has it on sale it's $3.49 or there's powdered milk (Works out to $1.70 per gallon at Walmart or as low as $1.50 per gallon at a club store.) The club store also has gallon fluid milk at $1.88, but they are too far away for frequent trips.
I was reading the thread about convenience stores and a number of people talked about the low milk prices. I called the stores in our area this morning and they are all at $3.79 per gallon!
$2.66 from a local dairy for non-organic but hormone free skim milk. Price does not include the cost of deposit for the glass bottle. I believe this is cheaper than a gallon at the grocery store, but it certainly tastes better!
I don't buy 'regular' milk as I'm with Ima, I can't use it fast enough. So I buy cases of 12 quarts of soymilk at Costco. I'd have to look up how much they cost. I know it's more then the gallon of 'regular' milk, but it keeps longer and I don't throw it out and it's healther, too bad it doesn't taste as good. I believe you can get regulat 2% at about $2-$3 a gallon at the stores around here, but it's been so long since I've looked at it I could be wrong.
We can get it on sale for $1.98/gal or up to $2.60 or so a gal. I go thru two gal's a week with two lil ones who need all the benefits that milk has to offer & for my morning cereal
$3.99 for a HALF gallon of organic. Yikes. DH drinks it, I don't.
Since I'm currently unemployed I've made him switch to the regular stuff for the past two weeks and that has been $1.50 for a half gallon.
Around here, it's typically $3.69 or $3.79 for a half gallon of organic milk, unless it's on sale or I can make it to Trader Joe's where I think it is $2.99 for a half gallon of organic.
For non-organic gallons of milk, I think the cheapest I've seen is about $3.15/gal, more typically $3.69 or so.
