Mice food cost about 7$ a pound. It is made mostly of oat, seeds and others all of which can be bought in bulk for sometime less than a dollar. I am thinking of making my own "rodents" food which would definately be fresher and cheaper than what is available in the pet store. I am having a lot of trouble finding recipe though... Anyone has any experience with this?

Re: Home made pet food
Do you mean $7 per pound of dog food??? cuz that is terribly expensive. I spend $22.00 on like 15-20 pounds and that is for a dog that has a skin condition and must eat very low levels of by products in her food. but at $7 per pound that would be $105 for the same bag.

Re: Home made pet food
We don't buy pet food for our cat. She eats the same food we eat. We also give her some meat and leftovers. we also give her some warm milk 2-3 times a day. she won't drink more than 3 oz at the time, so I try not to give her too much.
When she plays outside, she catches mice sometimes, but she won't eat it. she catches flys too and eats them, eeew.
We don't buy cat litter either. We have a plastic square bowl with sand and dirt from our backyard. Because she is very smart cat, she goes to pee outside most of the time, unless we are not there to let her out, so we don't have to change the sand that often.
