    Re: The price of convenience

we sell milk at our store below our cost ,and bread at cost, fountain pop is also below cost

items that sell quick are cheaper items that sit around tying up money are marked up heavy to make it worth our while to carry them

When I microwave my leftovers at work, I always have people asking about what smells so good! Granted, I don't bring sandwiches, but I'd rather have re-heated nutritious home-cooked (and cheap) leftovers over take-out any day. On the rare occasion I do eat take out for lunch, I feel painfully full and tired afterwards.

            Re: The price of convenience

I usually only go to the convenience store on the corner to get change for laundry. Luckily they don't make me buy anything to do so!

Other than that, I will go to the convenience store at school on the odd occasion to buy a ginger ale if I have a sore throat. It's cheaper in the convenience store than it is in the vending machines!

I hate that people think convenience stores are a bank LOL

it such a pain to be interrupted while working so people can break money into smaller bits to use elsewhere

Hardly ever. I loath going into gas stations (I pay at the pump) and even if I only need one or two things, I still go to the grocery store (it helps that it's only 5 minutes from the house to begin with).

Perhaps a big sign "No change given without purchase" would be in order. Of course, then you'll have everyone buying a pack of gum with a $100 bill.

If we put up a sign for everything we would not have room for product LOL

we used to say with purchase and someone would try to buy a 5 cent piece of candy so i say 5 dollar purchase they either grumble or say OK if they leave mad ,they were not customers anyway ,I have to save my till money for customers ;-)

                      Re: The price of convenience

I sometimes got milk bread butter and eggs as they are actually cheaper at one convenience store called Highs I think they have their own brand then I don't have to wait in the grocery store or get all the extras that I tend to get when in the grocery store. I hate seeing people buying out of vending machines I have never bought from the vending maching and I have worked here for 10 years. Oh yeah I have gotten sodas from time to time probably not even 10 but never food

                        Re: The price of convenience

My grocery store is actually much more convinent than a convinence store, since the convinence store around my apartment does not have a parking lot.

My grocery store is cheap with lots of tasty store brands. It is also close by with a large parking lot and a gas station where gas is a lot cheaper than Exxon-Mobile. It is also open 24-hours a day whereas the convinence store closes late at night

Five years ago a convinence store clerk stole my credit card number. I only lost $20, but it kinda scared me from convinence stores forever. Also, everytime I shop at a convinence store, I am reminded of the bad memorys I had when I was a teenager and I didn't know how to cash my paychecks at the bank. I got charged $20 everytime I cashed my paycheck there. When I go to a convinence store I also worry about getting robbed, especially if I go there late at night, since it has a paycheck-cashing service and always had lots of cash around.

I find my grocery store much safer and much more convinent.

We have a corner store that is one the way home. Once in a blue moon, I will have DH stop by on the way home and get a gallon of milk.

My convenience store has full service deli inside that is actually cheaper than the grocery stores so I have from time to time bought lunch meat that is on sale.

                              Re: The price of convenience

I buy the occasional Powerbar or bottled water at convenience stores but it's usually a result of my poor planning. I try to keep something to snack on in my bag or briefcase.

I would never do my grocery shopping in a convenience store.

Your convenience stores have drive-thrus? Cool.

I'm a pay at the pump w/my debit card gal. I've never been a convenience store shopper except on vacation but even then not much more than a pop. Will ocassionally send The Hubster in for a newspaper.

Our corner convenience store used to have small pizzas for like $1.59 which I'd get for the kids sometimes, but now since that's gone - nope, I stay out as often as I can.
