Maybe a stupid question

I was wondering if I have lost my mind or just pamperingmyself.
I belong to a country club @ $186.00 per month I know you spend what to play golf? Well I also belong to soften up customers you know a round of golf and great food. I was thinking the other day that maybe it was time to start playing public golf. So I did the math to play once a week at say $50.00 a round that's $200.00 a month well I'm saving money. That does not include the food money 50.00 a month from the country club that's included in the $186.00. So I'm saving at least $64.00 a month. Or how about I just stop playing golf that would make me a
real tough person to deal with, call it anger management.

Could you find a cheaper hobby that would helf with your anger or stress? What about taking your customers just to the driving range? It'd have to be cheaper, right?

yes I could do the range thing or maybe a social membership. I already have another hobby fishing I'm into that about $12,000.00 not including the boat, gas, safety gear. PS boat was given to me by freind that moved to Hong Kong and only cost me about $1000.00 per year to maintain.

I'm not sure exactly where you live but I would be surprised if the typical public course cost $50 for a single round. An excellent course near my home has the following 'in season' rate table:

Weekdays (Monday - Friday):
Before 2:00 - $30.00
After 2:00 - $25.00
Senior (55+) - $23.00

Weekends and Holidays:
Before 2:00 - $40.00
After 2:00 - $30.00

All rates include cart rental

And this is definitely a top public course, not some badly kept facility or something.

If you are looking to save money I'd say shop around; play during off-peak times, look for discount offers, etc. Or, if you can afford the membership you have and are happy with it, just keep it and hit 'em straight!

Club memberships are not deductable as per the IRS. Only if I pay cash at A
public course. That will not work becuse as the owner of said business my
schedual? is changing from hour to hour. Also I live in a large city with A
shortages of golf courses so the least expensive weekday golf is very expensive. The joy of belonging to the club is I can play any time I want so
if I have A customer that just gave me an order of $5,000.00 hey want to go hit the ball or get some lunch and most jump at the chance. Also the cost to join know it $25,000.00 I joined years ago @$1000.00 also I get 20% back from the club on the going rate. Very hard to this up. Plus I love the retired guys I play with on a regular basis, alot of life knowlage I those
brains.

Really, I think it comes down to the rest of your finances. If you are current on your bills and are paying down debt, or have paid off your debt, I say go for it! It seems necessary to you for both profesional reasons and mental health reasons. And if you're walking the course rather than using a cart, it's even good exercise so it's good for your physical health! Life is short, if the cost isn't harming you, then I say enjoy it!

I would pay as you go. I mean, you don't play golf year-round, right? Seems overly costly.
