Re: Does Anyone Else Boycott Office Xmas Parties?

I had an office party once for the accounting office that was small, catered and really nice. The old company used to have a big Christmas party and gave large gifts to each employee. They were generous, but the parties always came during the week and we always had to rush (after homework, Christmas parade child was in, etc) and then it went on for a long while. (kids got really hungry before dinner served). I don't think I would have a problem with them now, but when I had children needing to study for exams or something during the week, I had a hard time with it. I wouldn't have minded a weekend night near as much. Of course, I am also now on medication.....

I always hated them as I felt obligated to go but when you aren't a real social butterfly & more on the shy side & were walking on egg shells as it was.

I guess if you and your hubby threw an "office" party and neither of you showed up, there would be a problem. :-)
