most expensive gift you are buying this year?

my list for buying gifts for people is down to 5 this year....
my Mother-in law has lymphoma, and is going through chemo right now, and my wife and i bought her a necklace with the cancer ribbon on it with 3 diamonds on it. it was $300 marked down to $150. we are getting gift cards for both the dads, a gold heart necklace for my mom, and something about $20 for my sis-in law.
for my wife, i am getting her a pink sapphire white gold ring(from $100-$130). her grandma's birthstone was sapphire, and she passed away last year from cancer, and i thought she would like the ring for love and rememberance....(she loved her granny so much, and cries a lot about it, i want her to have something with her at all times)
yes....expensive christmas...but sometimes you have to suck it up for the ones you love.
i am cutting costs WAY BACK in other areas so i can get the ring and not screw with my budget too much, and we are splitting cost on the other gifts.

Most expensive gift, by far, is getting DD an Ipod. We got her a factory refurbished Nano from Apple.com for $99.

ETA: This is very unusual for us. Her gifts have never been this much before.

We did cheap gifts this year overall - but dh saw the PERFECT gift for his dad - a DVD recorder. HE has two TIVOs and likes to hoarde all the shows so figure he can transfer some to DVD.

Tried to get it for $57 on Black Friday but missed it - so paid about $140 with taxes and all. Was a good deal overall.

Generally don't buy pricey gifts like that, but for our parents are the exception. They only supported us the first 18 years of our lives, we splurge on the once in a while.

oh yeah, and i bought my wife a new jewelry box for $20 form walmart. more room(she has jewelry all over the place!) and looks better. hers is about 10 years old and looks all beat up.

total for any kid doesn't hit 50 husband might though, shirt cd =35, plus small stuff (chocolate)

Drum set for younger son - $700. Not sure what I am going to get the other 2 kids yet.

lol...you are not alone... we're not done yet but the most expensive gift so far has been $32...

The most expensive thing I bought is a new emergency response light for DH for the top of his truck. He's a volunteer firefighter/EMT and his old one is not working well.

My DH is almost always the most expensive. This year I got him a GPS thing, got it on sale a couple months ago. Other than that most stuff is either homemade on sale or second hand. i even found the material on sale for one of the gifts.

My most expensive gift this year will be a classic Nintendo System for my mom. The only game she ever played was Mario Brothers and she really wants it, so that is what I will get her! For sure the most unusal gift I have gotten for her.

The most expensive I bought online today from amazon was $70 its for all 3 of my daughters its a easel they love playing school & the 2 younges are learning so much I think it will only improve thier learning so IMO worth the money it was hard but I wanted one last year for them & never got it because no one sells them here so now its done they will have it for awhile!!!

I spent $260 on a Scooba robotic mop for my brother. It's not a holiday present, though, it's a "thanks for helping us sell our house" present. The most expensive holiday present will probably be the Wii I'm expecting from my husband.

Spent $135 on a gold chain and small crucifix for hubby, he has wanted it forever and it was never in the budget. He will be shocked

I spend about $160 on a digital music server for my hubby on ebay. I don't think we have exchanged gifts the past 3 years (well, since we started having kids...).

So far most of the other gifts I have purchased have been 'under budget' so I am hoping this still works out.

A good quality explorer hat for my husband. The whole crushable felt with a string kind. He has worn out two over the past 10 years and really uses it up working on our little piece of land and rock collecting out in the wild.

It was $60, they are not easy to find. I don't mind to pay the price when it saves major time or is exactly the right thing.

The rest are all fun, less expensive, good things for the family members.

I give many handmade jewelry items of course! (That's my little teeny tiny business),
