What I'd want to do is charge the car purchase to get reward points and then pay the bill in full when it comes. I don't want to finance the car on the CC. I don't want to finance the car at all. But I can't figure out any way to do it so that I still get reward points.

Steve - Maybe you could try this: If the car dealer has a repair shop, parts dept, etc., then the repair shop and parts dept. almost certainly take CCs. Maybe you could argue that because the repair and parts arms of the dealership accept a CC, they can't refuse a CC for payment on a car. I have no idea if this would work, but it may be worth a try.

I'm sure the reason they don't want to accept a CC for such a large purchase is because they will pay a whopping fee to the CC company (and they won't make anything from your financing the purchase at Car Dealer Credit Company).
