Same here! Been TV-free for... oh, what, four years now?

The only downside: I'm pathetically uninformed about any aspect of popular culture.

Oh well. It's not like I was "cooler" back when I had a TV, anyway.

I could do it (or could have if I had known back when you started) BUT

well we hardly ever watch anyway, and I have two veggietale christmas videos I like, one adult tradition (the one with the kidnapping and all the swearing...) Plus we got a DVD game thing we want to check out, oh and a stack of movies a foot tall we have never seen (gifts/handme downs)

Whoops. Already messed up Day I

Started out well, listened to a new CD while doing homework. Then the boyfriend showed up and I made him dinner, so we watched reruns of Americas Funniest Home videos during it.

          Im weak.

I am not a tv person, so no problem with me, count me in!

I don't own a TV so that's easy for us. We do watch movies though. I can gladly give them up but my DH really likes them. We're pretty careful what we play in our house though. No internet now that would be harder. I run a small business (home party type) and some of th eparties are done online instead of by my visiting the home. If that were the only thing I could do I would be willing

I didn't do it this week because I have been setting and working on other goals and don't want to mess myself up. However, i would like to do this once I get a couple other things under control.

Two things I'm thinking of: one, record all the shows I like (maybe 5 or so?) and go a week with none.

Or, just planning what i will watch for the week, and sticking to that, period, not surfing.

I'm interested in all your expereinces!!!

I had a teacher who taught a mini-course "Reading and Writing about television." Little did we 7th and 8th graders know when we signed up that requirment one was being absolutely TV free for a month!

Re: No TV for one week?

Can't do it. I watch tv for news and info on a lot of my investmest that I have. I love the financial networks. Besides, at $110 a month for cable internet and digital cable with all the pay channels, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to leave the tv turned off, unless I cancelled my service. But then I couldn't watch Monday night football anymore. No thanks.....

I lived on a boat for four months four years ago, no t.v., radio, showers, telephones. It was great! However when I did call home I was always asking what was going on. I remember there being a story I was gald I didn't hear, about a big metiorite almost hitting hte earth, I woudl have been really terrified. Instead I was blisfully happy.

Lost is on hiatus, and I've just gotten a batch of good books from the library, so I'm in.

not a failure, a success of less than normal TV.....

I am terrible at all or nothing...I like to aim for 'less' less chocolate, less TV, less junk, more walking...less and more are nice and subjective

Today is my second try. Yesterday I had turned it on before I even realised. As soon as I sat down I remembered and thought damm. Oh well its on now. I've been up for 30 mins and so far so good. The hardest challenge is going to be to not watch the TV that the kids are watching.
