Re: How Does Your Computer Save You Money?

I'm not as involved as some of you, but what I came up with isL
    1. Research for kids homework-nearest library with a computer is 17 miles 1 way
    2. ebay-easier than a garage sale for me to clean out closets-some months it pays for my internet connection fee of $14.95
    3. Comparison shopping. Last week I used it to find a hood range for our kitchen store. Saved me from runnning all over the city in city traffic. I had gift certificates from our wedding, and was able to find one without spending any cash.
    4. getting phone numbers -I use the computer rather than paying directory assistance
    5. sending emails to family members who would be long distance to call on the house phone, or eat up all my minutes on the cell phone.
    6. getting photos developed--its cheaper for me to use snapfish or york online when they have a special for 8-11 cents per photo than to run to the closest photo developer - a walgreens about 4 towns over at 24 miles one way.-the mailing charges are less than the gas prices plus i wont have to make a 2nd trip to pick them up, or pay higher for 1 hr then wander and spend in the store while i do.
    7. MY POINTS. My kids are each getting a walmart gift certificate in their stockings this year as I have redeemed MY POINTS for them. We also had several free Red Lobster meals this year from MY POINTS. All by clicking websites, taking small surveys, and now using their new search tool bar.
    8. Rented my house out thru our free local classified from our provider. Am still trying to sell my house the same way, but not as aggresive about doing it now since it is rented
    9. By reading forums such as this one.
    10. Banking & ING
11.sending photos to friends family--they can keep print what they want--not what I may think they want
    12. Looking up recipies
13.dowloaded all the forms for my sub teaching off the school district websites instead of having to drive to each of the little towns around here to get them. Was able to fill them out, scan them, and email & fax them back-no gas, no postage.
