Got my paycheck today and paid off $347.68 in credit cards. Also I closed out 3 of them 2 are my oldest ones but the companies refused to eliminate the maintence fees (one was 6 one was 5.75 and one was 10.95
savings will be around $240 a year for not having those fees) I know it will hurt my credit in the short run but since I just got done refinancing my house and paying of the last 4 collections on my report I'm hoping it will all balance out. Still have 7 cards between the wife and I (Each have our own capitol one, I also have 2 HSBC, Chase, Younkers and Home Depot all of which have no annual fees that I see in my statements) I did lose about $1900 in available credit but will save that over the long run by not paying fees. So I hope to run a credit check next month to see what kind of damage/ gains I have gotten. Any input on getting my credit score up?
