  • To Pay or Not To Pay (Credit Report)

I have been working on cleaning up my credit files. I have most things cleaned up. I now have 2 items that will drop off in about 6 months, should I pay them off or wait?

I'd like to pay them off, but am afriad that it will reset the timer on them and they'll remain for another 7 years.

Anyone have any knowledge or advice on this?

    Thanks

Did you write off these debts as unpayable? What is going on? Please be more specific.

My understanding is that it would be best to not make a payment. Otherwise your last activity will be reset to the 7 year rule.

But, you may want to get a pointer from a credit attorney. I did, and he had some pointers to share.

If they are legitimate debts and you do owe that money, you should pay it. If the charges are in error, then you shouldn't pay. You should get them corrected and removed from your record.
