It dpends on how you define days. It is my understanding that at that time the Hebrews considered sunset the end of one day and the beginning of the next. Thus, the Last Supper could have been on Friday (just after sunset Thursday). Jesus was arrested during the night, tried first thing in the morning by Pilot, then executed.

And quoting from the article which you referenced:
"While 13 is associated with the number of people at the Last Supper, the Crucifixion took place on a Friday, thus leading to an association of bad luck with the combination of this number and day."
So the origin I cited is just as valid as any other and is the one I've heard it attributed to most often.

I somehow ended up believing that killing spiders in the house is bad luck.

I have a big plump guy in the bathroom that's my buddy now-he's a mighty fly catcher. I try to take them outside when I can. We have 12 foot ceilings and cobwebs are definitely an issue.

Yeah, that is very scarey. I never answer the door when I am home alone.

It sounds like that guy was nuts. Or maybe someone put him up to it as a scarry practical joke or as a frat initiation?

BUT for anyone who hasn't already heard about this: One of the common scams now is for someone to come to your door and ask to use your phone because their car broke down (or some equally plausable excuse) and then rob you when you let them in, or kidnap you and make you take money out of your account at an ATM, or sometimes they just make their call and leave -- then a few weeks later someone breaks in and steals all your stuff, because the person you let in gave them a list of which houses were worth breaking into.

A variation on this involves an innocent looking motherly woman with a kid in tow who is on foot in your neighborhood because (pick any simi-logical reason) and she hates to impose on you, but the kid needs to use the bathroom real bad. Same deal: Either someone else is waiting to rush you when you unlock the door, or she's casing your house for a future burglary.

Much as I hate to be a grinch about not helping people who ask for a seemingly simple favor, allowing anyone you don't know into your house has become much too dangerous. Please don't do it.

I have a feeling that things that are commonly regarded as unlucky are lucky for me. I myself adopted four black kitties, and they had always been lucky for me.

I think the devil himself creates superstitions to keep us from enjoying certain things that are truly enjoyable. I think black kitties are the smartest kitties, and I love them.

Well, I have always had a black poodle, well not always but for the past 30 something years.

I just watched a whole thing on the Templars on Discovery channel, and they made it sound like there wasn't any question that they were arrested in a surprise attack on Friday the 13th.
