dd needed a throw-away lunch bag for tomorrow's field trip- I wanted to runout to the store and get some, knowing I will need them for many field trips to come. decided to improvise ( that's where this challenge gets fun) and use a solid colored gift bag I had . money spent- none.

other dd needed some orange yarn for a school project to make hair. I convinced her the yellow yarn I had and some orange embridery thread mixed in made it look like "highlights" - hehe. money spent- none.

      doing okay so far.
Awesome ideas for improvising! I especially love the highlights

I had a no spend day. I did drive to town to make a deposit, but I hope I will make a few cents interest on the money I deposited.

          I'm so out.

We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday with preschool and not anticipating it to be 80 DEGREES I spent $2 on 2 water bottles for a friend and I. Now I should have sent her to get the water and gotten it for free, eh?

I figured water = necessity (was so parched) so I wasn't gonna consider myself out. BUT then today at Target I got 2 cute outfits for the kids. I Am out. LOL. I actually planned to go there, and stocked up on some other things that were on sale and I planned to buy eventually anyway. I wouldn't really count those, but my friend's son had the cutest halloween shirt yesterday and so I decided if it was just $5 I'd get it - maybe even in a larger size because it would last quite a few more halloweens here between the 2 kids. But in the end I Was bad and I bought one for both kids. Well at least it was only $5. IF it was more I probably wouldn't have bought even 1. Dang low prices. The second outfit for baby was most certainly an impulse buy. But hey they are gonna match and be so cute!! I Was thinking they don't have much clothes anyway, but dh pointed out they both have an abundance of shirts. True true.

I am so out. Though I will still try not to buy the rest of the week.

I'm out too! And here I am the one who started the whole thing! How lame is that?

First it was a pop at the vending machine.

Then, last night DH's parents treated us to a dinner theater for my birthday. Free, right? Yes, well two drinks and a hefty tip later, we walked away having spent $26.00.

Then today, I have to stay at work until 8:00 PM for parent/teacher conferences. That means no dinner. I remembered to pack my lunch, but not dinner. So I traveled between schools around 1:00 and picked up a salad from Wendy's to have later for dinner. Didn't know the school was providing pizza. Didn't have to spend that money!

I would love to say I'll start again, but we're doing some Fall/festival related this weekend and will probably spend some. It's a tough time of year to go without spending I guess.

Went grocery shopping-had not been since 9/11 so allowed it. Did a very small run none the less, 40.85 total, my share 20.43, mostly just getting items we needed to use up other items in our pantry.

                Hey! Who's still in here?

I had to spend money today - we ran out of diapers for ds1 (he wears them only for overnights, so a pack of 52 from Wal-Mart will last us nearly two months). Other than that, I'm in. No impulse spending, which is what I am trying to control
DH spent $27 on gas, but that was an allowable expense under my rules. I'm still in.

I'm still in! I allowed myself a mini-grocery run (hadn't shopped since 9-11) but we made it a little run for items to aid using up the pantry, instead of the huge restock I thought we "needed." Other than that, I had a one time expense of $4.82 optional since 10/2, prior to the no warniong challenge. I do need to get a planned purchase this week, but it's planned (wedding gift, we ordered the personalized label, now need the bottle to slap it on).

I am still in! And it's my first!

                    Re: A No-Warning/No-Spend challenge!

                    Oh, I'm still in.

No shopping, no spending. Fact is, I didn't even come into physical contact with money today. How's that for fiscal purity? Instead . . .

I stayed home and continued to burrow into the dim reaches of my closets. I'm determined that I will go through every box, bin, barrel and bag -- sorting, sizing, sifting, selecting. Lots of stuff is headed for the exits. Not exactly frugal, but highly energizing.

The weather is finally turning colder. I've gotten by without using either A/C or heat since the first week of September. We have a forecast for frost this weekend, however, and I'm a cold weather wimp.

Scheduled at the offce tomorrow morning. This is good. Friday the break room is supplied with baked goods, of which I am a hapless beneficiary.

I'm with Bookie--I fall clean instead of spring clean. Maybe it has something to do with it cooling off after being 1000 degrees here all summer and I have more energy? Still cheering you guys on!

                        Re: A No-Warning/No-Spend challenge!

To those who are out: Come on back! The water's fine.

Yesterday was a bit tougher for me. It was to be expected that I would not think of the little things that I would need until AFTER the challenge.

For example, now that I am exclusively cooking, I realized that I didn't have any kitchen cutlery. (Ex took the cutlery set. Can't blame her. It was a shiney new set.) So, I didn't have anything really to break off the sausage links that I was cooking last night. I used my teeth instead.

I also forget to get one of those little hair covers for bath tubs that I've been meaning to get. However, not wanting to break my promise to this no-spend challenge... I ran to my parent's house and stole theirs! I wonder if they'll notice?

Still, no spend so far. Weekends are always the toughest though. Here's to hoping that I can get through it.

Heh, parents ae always good for a few odds and ends! When we used to live in the same state, before kids and real lives we would 'grocery shop' at my MILs....take out a full bag or two of staples, and you still could barely shut the door!

so what is a shower hair cover thing anyway?

Anyway, while I still havn't spent a cent, I think I cheat, no money in the house...I am however preplanning tomoorrows run to the store for balloons and a gift for DS...I don't want to get sucked into the 'it was only a couple bucks' and buy more than I need, but I do want to explore for on sale gifts for christmas..I would like to be done before thanksgiving.

Hehe. I meant one of those plastic drain cover that you put in your shower or bath drain, so you hair would go down the drain?

What? You don't like pulling the dead rat out of the shower drain? Try having hair down to your waist! Then talk to me about hair in the shower drain! But at least it catches itself.. Oh and don't even get me started on the beater bar of the vaccuum...how I'm not bald I don't know!

Other than dinner out, which I allow myself, I have not spent anything! I run to town, (actually I drive) do my errands and come home!
