How did you chose your forum name?

it chose me

It's my name, really... my middle name.

I don't get to use it in real life much because it seems to intimidate most people, or maybe they just don't believe me.

A few close friends (and mostly family) use it, but otherwise, on-line is the main place I can (comfortably) use it... and (hopefully) everyone (here) doesn't think I'm an exotic dancer because of it.

"Penny wise, pound foolish" is an English idiom meaning to be cautious with small amounts of money but wasteful with large amounts.

Hence, my interest in being pound wise.

Mine is a combination of my chat name and my husband's chat name when we first met: dmont52 and grey_eyed_girl. It just kinda stuck and has a nice ring to it. His name was based on his real name and his high school football number. My name? Well yeah, they certainly are grey!

Grunt is a family "fun joke" name for me. It started out as "Runt” being the baby of the family born three months too early, weighing 2 pounds and looking like a pink frog. My deafness along with it did not prevent me from doing so many things. Being the only one out of my huge loving family to go to school at 4 year University program it was an inside joke to the word Runt. Later they gave me Grunt with the "G" meaning Grown-up Runt!

I started getting cards in the mail from my sister and she would play with the words Grunt and change it into names like Princess Gruntina and she was Queen Bruntella!

Well I want grow-up on my finances so here I come! lol!

I wish I had thought longer about my forum name also. On the other forum I am on, I named myself after the creek we live on.

Ima, your username is like an institution around here Couln't imagine the forum without it.

As for mine, it is whatever came to my mind at the particular time that I was registering on this site. I have different usernames on the forums I participate in.

Ima, I think your name is cute especially with the little snoopy character. It is always very cheerful to see your name pop up.

My name on another forum was FLBCHGRL. I shortened it to BCHGRL. I'm a Florida girl that loves the beach. Can't imagine life without crystal blue-green waters nearby. Even during a bad week, the grocery store that I shop has a perfect ocean view from the parking lot. I figure life doesn't get much better than that!

I use my name on other forums, where we talk about aquariums. Unlike a lot of other aquarists, I prefer small fish in big tanks. Hence the name. I've found it nicknames well to 'Tiny', which is very appealing. I try to win folks over to appreciating small fish. 'Once you've had tiny, you'll never be whiney!'.

Other places I sometimes use 'E!', which is what some friends call me. (Say 'E' in a perky voice and you've got it). In geek-speak that is 'e-bang', but that leads to misunderstandings... Shame, because it is a very cool name!

When I was in highschool I was remembered as 'small but perky' any underage skip the explination here, (6ft tall but, I had a small chest, though perky, they grew.)

I used perky then on the old message boards and the 'newfangled ICQ' it was taken here as many places so....

DH calls me princess, I just combined them. At the time it never occured to me it might be rude or pretentious, I just was tired of trying names that didn't work.

I find it hard to believe anyone would think your name was rude or pretentious, but then, almost anything might offend someone somewhere.

Until you set me straight (in another thread) my impression of your name was Gidget, Mary Tyler Moore, and Princess Toadstool. Exactly the opposite of rude or pretenscious. So you never know how people will react. That's one reason I prefer to use a name that sounds real but isn't -- in this case Mathew Green.
