yep to the heinz and we're pretty much open to anything else...
we just shop the loss leaders, whatever they are and supplement them with salad and chicken from SAM's...
We ALWAYS used to buy New Yorker brand American cheese at the deli. It's made by Land O Lakes. One time, we tried Wegman's own brand and saw no difference. NY brand is $6.99/lb. Wegman's is $2.99/lb. We've stuck with Wegman's ever since.
ETA: Wegman's brand of Pop-Tarts. I actually prefer them. They aren't as sweet as Kellogg's.
Shop Rite or Wegman's brand of trash bags. They are just as good and just as thick as Glad or Hefty. We've never had one break or tear or leak.

* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.
What is your item that you have to have the brand name.
I just realized that I never actually answered the original question.
We will only buy:
Charmin Ultra toilet paper. Kleenex or Puffs tissues. Bounty paper towels. Diet Coke or Pepsi. Morningstar Farms vegetarian products. Arm and Hammer laundry detergent. Dawn dish washing liquid. Dove soap.
Not so picky on food items as much as cleaning supplies and paper goods. The off brands just don't seem to be a soft or as long lasting as the brands. We also buy everything unscented - soap, detergents, dryer sheets, etc. and a lot of times the store brands don't offer an unscented option.

A few things I cant go generic on tp I have to have charmin due to a health problem I have had since birth. Tide I tried generic once & it turned my clothes blue!! And diapers I had to have pampers & luvs & none of my kids ever had a diaper rash or a leaky diaper I did find these really cheap though alot so I got lots of good diaper deals when I had kids in diapers thankfully just recently we are done forever with them!!!!
I am not as picky about food as I am about TP (has to be Charmin or Cottonelle) and laundry detergent (must be Tide..... I can't find a better quality product out there). The one food I am picky on is American cheese. I can't buy a prepackaged one, it has to be from the deli.
And most cosmetics/hygeine products I am prettty picky on. I won't use products from drug/grocery stores.
Evian. I've been drinking it for almost 20 years, long before "designer" water flooded the marketplace. The ex-H tried once to taste test me: he set the table for dinner before I got home, and poured tap water in my glass. One sip and I said "That's not Evian!".
JIF. I'll feed any of the other stuff to my kids, but when it comes to just me, I probably won't eat it if it's not JIF. Everything else is pretty much fair game. If a generic food tastes bland, I just perk it up with seasonings.
Non food for me is Mary Kay cleanser. It just works really well for my skin after several trials of different brands. I do not feel too bad paying for it because I do support parents who take on independent consultant jobs so they can be with their children more (too many angry kids nowadays). Also, Independent Consultant type of work starting around the 80's I believe contributed to the era that help empowered women to take care of them selves and learn working skills.
Hellman's, Welch's, Cottonelle, Tide, Colgate, Dawn. I buy practically all name brands with coupons. I prefer to buy Tide detergent and Colgate toothpaste and use half the recommended amount rather than buy generic.
By using a coupon for these items and using half the recommended amount, I am paying less than half price.
I can't think of anything I have to have brand name. I do prefer kraft mac&cheese but I'll eat just about anything. I also tend to buy brand name soda but faygo is also fine.
I'll try anything generic, but DH usually complains when I do. Generic mustard and generic bottled water were not satisfactory to him. He was right, they both were pretty bad compared to the name brands.
I found out that one of the things that some people don't realize is that some generic brand are made in the same factory as brand name products. They just change the name on the packages. I couldn't tell you which ones, but if you think about it, some of the things you may have tried over the years taste the same as or exactly the same. they just have a different price. Thats why I try a lot new things to see.
We don't like the generic version of sprite, so we stick to the coke brand. I did try and different brand of mac and cheese and like it better than kraft!
