Re: What are you tired of replacing in your home?

Hum...I guess being single and buying in bulk has it's advantages.

TP - It's been at least 8 months since I bought it and I still have a Sam's package (read HUGE) on the top shelf in the garage...I'm good. When I have to take that down I'll add it to Sam's/Costco list. It'll be a while

Paper Towels - As part of learning to be more frugal I'll trying to use my kitchen towels more and PT less. I still have 8-10 rolls in the garage and I have been out in the kitchen for about a month and trying to make do to brake the thought that I 'need' them. I don't.

Scissors - I have quite a few pairs, sometimes I'd like to blame someone other than myself for misplacing them! but I don't ever run 'out' of them.

Light bulbs - I have a good stash of them...I have a few that need replacing, but I guess I'm being lazy and I am trying to move over to the long lasting ones.

Mops - These are a waste of money in my opinion, they simply push the dirt around. Scrub brush on my hands and need and wipe it up with cleaning towels. I think my floor is the exception thanks to the dogs, but nothing else seems to work.

Laundry detergent - Again single and I buy bulk, no worries.

Lawn - The lawn I have is small so the bags of fertilzer and bug killer last years. Noe lawn seed for the backyard where the dogs are killing the grass...that I have to rebuy every year.

Groceries - Hummm I am 5 weeks and counting...If I can aviod the temptation I don't think I will have a problem lasting my three months without buying groceries.

Chocolate - Wich kind would you like...I have cooking cocoa (at least five lbs.), cooking squares (4 different kinds) and at least 15-20 bags of various chips in my pantry...I'm good.

Batteries - I have a huge stash - I can't even remember the last time I bought some.

Socks - I hold to the buy a whole bunch of the same kind and forget the pairing thing. If your missing one you don't know it.

So let me think what do I get sick of replacing in my house............
Okay having a hard time...Let me tweak it a bit.

I hate it when I have to buy things to decorate my house! They are SOOO over priced for just being a dust collector!

I hate having to get all of the dust out of my house! It is everywhere and it never seems to go away!

It seems unfair that even thought I am single my house does not seem to stay clean! If I haven't been in the room in three months why on earth do I need to clean it! Really I have to go it and flush the toliet in the spare bathroom and clean it. The hard water builds up so I have to scrub that and it's not safe to let toliets sit without water in the trap to prevent sewer gases from coming in. GGRR!

MICE! I am in a battle with mice in my garage! I pay the mortgage get the *&%( out of my house! I think (nock on wood) I am currently winning this one. Winter weather will let me know for sure.

It's my lawn and I like it long, (this is true, but I do let it go a bit too long sometimes) if it's been a month since I mowed it last...get over it...at least it's green and pretty and doesn't have any weeds in it! So it still looks better than yours!

How on earth did I get on this tanget....I'll stop....hopefully it made you smile

I know, I know...we do have some rechargeables but they always seem to be needed a recharge too. its not very frugal, but its easier sometimes to buy new ones.

Does anybody here know a good website where you can buy rechargeable batteries by the dozens?

It would be a pricey investment, but I think it would be worth it.

Re: What are you tired of replacing in your home?

Well, either paper plates and garbage bags, or its dish soap, time, and scrub pads.

Maybe the family will get the hang of using paper towels more for snacks than plates all of the time? Who knows. It seems as if when we buy the cheap bulk paper plates pack from [insert warehouse store here] every assumes that we can waste them as if they grow on trees. Cmon!

I think all our little spoons are growing into the larger sized spoons. All of a sudden we have this huge pile of big spoons but only 5 small spoons. What is up with that?

Got it! All kinds of weird looks will be given, but oh they'll thank us later, eh?!?

*LOL* NOt the perfect gift but practical!!!

We are also out of batteries. We just bought some last month & my dh restocked his gadgets but not the items I origionally bought them for.

hair brushes, hair accessories, socks (therefore I darn all of dh's holes from time to time).

lawn mowers! we've lived in our house for like 4 yrs and we just went thru our 2nd mower! WTH!?!?! Hence that's why I like my oldfashioned push mower. It's doesn't come out as "pretty" as w/ a gas mower but it does the job right?

Re: What are you tired of replacing in your home?

Vacuum cleaners. Doesn't matter whether they are expensive or inexpensive. Whether I vacuum a little or a lot. I am the vacuum cleaner killer. My mother in law has had the same vacuum for over 20 years. I have to replace mine every couple of years. Don't understand it. I don't suck things up into it or anything. They just keel over.

I t should all work out, little spoons grow up to be big spoons then they mate, and make little baby spoons

(mine seem to have mated..I have a plethora of baby spoons)

That's funny. Only kids would believe that, but those who would, are too little to understand it.

Anything having to do with the kids! I am so sick of having to find a home in our little apartment for some toy, bedding, clothing, diapers that they don't fit in anymore, etc. until the younger one grows into it. I am so excited to be having a garage sale soon. Getting rid of all the things the youngest has outgrown.
I'm also sick of light bulbs. DH stocked up on them a little while back, but he bought the cheap ones from the dollar store. We put them in a safe place, but more and more I'm finding that they are already broken before I can even put them in. Makes me mad that that money was wasted. I really want to start getting those long life more enery efficiant ones, but I'm waiting till these are finally gone till I do.
