Well, what you're doing right now is one way of doing so, although I would be careful with that because business solicitations are against the rules on many forum sites, including this one.

The other thing is to make sure you submit your website to all the major search engines out there. Google, yahoo, etc.

Make sure that your home page has the proper hypertext markups and descriptions, as well as haveing the relevant keywords embedded, so that when the search engine scans your webpage, they can more accurately tag it.

If you're willing to spend some coin, another option is to look into setting up a small shop on eBay or Yahoo auction.

Also make sure you read the <a href="http://www.savingadvice.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1874">forum rules</a> before you start posting - breaking a forum's basic rules is a good way to get banned real quick

Nothing is wrong with your post now, but I had to take out your signature which you originally had.

Re: How can i promote my site within financial budget?

How long ago did you submit your site to the search engines? It can take up to 3-4 weeks in some cases for them to actually crawl your website and index the results.

You can try swapping links with sites that have similar content as yours. This will help you get reciprical links which some search engines use to help rank your website.

Make sure to have good META tags in your code with pertinent keywords, description, etc.

Don't keyword stuff your pages. Search engines use a formula to detect those pages that are keyword stuffed.

I had 2 sites that were ranked 1 and 2 on Yahoo for many months for a not so off the wall keyword search for poker information. I lost my rankings by about 20 spots when I switched to using a javascript dropdown menu instead of a simple link menu. It took me months to figure out why. Now I am back at 1 and 4.

There are tons of better resources to research how to improve your search engine ranking besides a financial forum.

Did you submit your site at dmoz.org? That's a good way to get picked up elsewhere.

Re: How can i promote my site within financial budget?

I go to commercial websites based on the recommendations of other consumers more than any other way or reason. I visited two new-to-me commercial websites today and made an order at one. I had not even known of the existence of the product before I visited the site.

Reputation among customers is everything. When I hear of good products and good customer service from other people, that makes all the difference. Likewise if I hear of bad product or bad service---forget about it! Let someone else take the risk of dealing with that company!

So what I'm saying is that if you have happy customers word will get around. If you have offline customers, make sure they know about your online service so that they can use it and recommend it to others. Consider whether you could even give existing customers a discount for using your website. That increases the odds that they will tell others about your site in a favorable manner.

I would not put flyers on cars in parking lots. That creates a very negative reputation among many. However flyers on bulletin boards (at grocery stores, etc) is a much better way. You can even design a flyer with a tearoff that lists the contact info.

YES! The #1 way you'll get me NOT to buy a product or service is to leave a flyer on my car or stuffed into the handle of my front door!
