    Re: Stockpile

Like others, I tend to stockpile paper goods, toiletries, and staples when the savings are significant. Aside from that I like to have a backup for everything. My comfort zone.

The challenge for me is to keep track of what I have and to use it in a timely fashion. (I bought so much canned tuna I started dating the cans with a marker.) I'm especially careful with acidic canned goods that can have a surprisingly short shelf life.

      I definitely stockpile.

I get multiples of the best coupons I can, from coupon trains, sites like TheCouponClippers.com, and etc. and then I buy items on sale, with the coupons, and put them on shelves in a storage closet. I mostly do non-food items this way, but also have some dry goods and canned goods in stock.

I kinda do like the Tightwad Gazette teaches. When I see a really good sale in the sale ads and I KNOW we'll use it I stock up.

Seems like there hasn't been any good sales lately and my pantry and freezer are dwindling down. Still saving money by shopping the sales, but nothing fabulous to really stockpile on. Grrr....

Stockpiling is a great idea as long as you do not follow the expiration dates.

Expiration dates are for the companies to make money, IMO

I Use Wag And Always Get A New Gift Card From The Rebate... They Messed Myself, My Spouse, My Friend Ro, On The Reusing Of The Cards.. So, We Get New Each Time... Also, If You Purchase A Multiple Set Of Items, Their Scanner Gets Confused.. So, Have Them Itemized And Keep A Copy And Call And Complain Until They Fix It For You, Close To What You Think.... I Never Have Won With The Full Rebate On Multi Items....i Guess We Intertept Different Than What They Say The Deal Is Or Vice Versa...

I get new Walgreens card every time too. That way if the card is empty I throw it away, so don't have to keep 10 cards in my wallet and guess which is empty and which is good.

On the rebate they usually say the limit, and the limit is usually one item, sometimes more.

I usually make copies of all my receipts and forms that I submit for rebate. When i get the rebate, I can throw the copy away.

I like the RiteAid rebates, cause you do everything online and you can check as often as you want your rebate status. With Walgreens and Longs, you have to send it in the mail, and hope (really hope) they would get it. But with Walgreens you get extra 10%.

                I have a question:

I have lots of body lotion. More than I can use (all free). Does anybody use it for anything else except for puting it on your skin?

I have dry hair. I use it as hair gel.

Some of the more expensive hair gels actually have lots of glycerin in it, the same as lotions.

                    Yes, I definitely stockpile...

lotion makes a great hair conditioner...some cautions if you color your hair, some conditioners as well as lotions can strip the color...but quite a few friends use Lubriderm directly on hair for curly frizz-free locks, and a touch with water in a spray bottle makes an easy, lighter leave-in.

Rebate forms can be found (sometimes) in your Sunday paper coupon section. Sometimes manufacturer's have rebate forms online on their web-site ( often they are in the pdf format) Probably the most common way of finding rebate forms is to find them in your grocery/retail shops. Keep your eyes open when you are walking the isles, the rebate forms are often attached in a tear pad form on the display of a certain product. By display I mean those stand alone cardboard thingy ( specially for a brand new product) also check the small size display hanging on the endcap of the isles. Some times it's easy to miss them since they are often the same color as the display cardboard and kind off merge in the back ground, I repeat, keep your eyes open when in a grocery store...once you start noticing them you will (hopefully) find them everywhere.
Sometimes the rebate forms are put out in the 'blinkie' machine. Its the same concept as you see little machines next/below the items on sheles that spits out grocery coupons. A great way to find rebate forms is to trade for them.
Rebates are also offered by such national chains as Walgreen's, Rite Aid, Eckerds on a monthly basis. CVS has an excellent program where they offer ECB which is a similar concept as rebates.
Remember, getting companies pay you for buying their product, you have to do a little footwork and be committed. You have to save your receipts, buy the exact same product ( variety/size/type) that the rebate is for, fill the rebate from and mail it on time. If you miss a single step you will be stuck with something that you ONLY bought because it will be free AFTER you receive your check

I am trying to start to stock pile so problems I have noticed:
knowing the expiration dates so that I can cycle things through, finding space for everything, and just not having enough money in my grocery budget to buy too many things. Looks like it will be a slow process

I don't buy in bulk or anything like that as I don't have to room to have great stockpiles of anything really.

Though I agree w/ Imasaver about the tp! It's not a pretty pic if you run out of tp! But that only means I usually keep three 6pks of tp on hand.
