  • Does anyone use Ibotta?

It looks confusing but my friend has earned almost $800 off it in 3 years, just by scanning receipts. Or I think that's how she did it. I need to re-read the instructions because I am confused.

I've made a good chunk with ebates, that couldn't be easier to use

Ibotta is an app. So if you purchase an item at a store that has an offer on Ibotta, then you do take a picture of your receipt. I don't buy a lot of name brands, so I would guess I only made $40.

I'd say give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

I do wonder how much your friend spent to get $800 back, even if in three years time.

I have used it a few times. I thought it is a pain in the butt, but kind of worth it. My main complaint is that it doesn't save your place when you are scrolling for coupons on either the app or the computer for me, so when I click a deal I have to start scrolling from the top all over again. It takes too much time. I have learned to separate my Ibotta and Shopmium purchases. I tend to do most of my shopping once or twice a month and the receipts are usually longer than my arm. I would have to break it up into 4 or more pictures. I get my money pretty quickly, though.

I thought it was good on everything you buy, but it's only good on coupons Ibotta offers? It does sound very time consuming. And I buy as much as I can generically.

Correct it is specific products. At a $0.25 to $0.75 on average, although I'm sure larger department stores, might offer $5 occasionally. It is definitely NOT on everything you buy.

I suggest it for those who may be paying down debt. Every little bit can help when you want to make progress on a low or middle income.

It can be specific products, or specific stores, or specific products at specific stores. You really have to pay attention to the wording. It can be "Buy any gallon of whole milk at Walmart" for 25 cents, or a 12 pack of Amstel Light only at CVS for $5 off. I got a lot of free or cheap beer when I started using it. It wasn't anything I was interested in drinking so I would use it to hide the good stuff when moochers came over.

I forgot to add that you don't just click on a coupon to add it to your list. Sometimes you have to watch short videos (under a minute) and sometimes you have to do a tiny survey. Sometimes you have to do both to "unlock" the whole offer, so you might get $1 off instead of $2 if you don't do both. Not that big of a deal, but it adds to the PITA status with me.

I've tried Ibotta and Ebates. I like them both. I just got invited to Lemoney. Have you heard of it? A friend just invited me...there is something about creating communities and earning when friends shop too. I thought the idea pretty different...
