  • Brother always does 5 minute oatmeal, any alternatives?

    Hi Guys,

My brother has decided to go vegan/vegetarian and is looking for frugal breakfast ideas. He's done 5 minute oatmeal, but is looking for alternatives. Any ideas?

Vegan and vegetarian are very different. Which is it?
    Steve

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

More vegan, but he's not strict about it.

Texas - he went vegan/vegetarian, that means he can't eat a lot of stuff. No eggs, no bacon, Cold cuts are out, milk is out.

I can't really help so much with vegan suggestions. Plenty of vegetarian options but vegan is a lot more difficult and I'm not all that familiar with it.

I'm sure there are loads of websites out there with vegan recipes, though. He shouldn't have any trouble finding info.

First three things that came to mind:

              Peanut butter toast and banana

              Avacado toast

              Green smoothies

I decided I'm giving up on all Vitamin E for a while to see what that does. Steve, any suggestions?

                  Lots of fruits.
                  Maybe a bagel.

I went through a chia pudding kick. I would just mix up chia seeds with coconut milk (play around with the ratio to find how you like it) then leave in the fridge overnight. In the morning I would drizzle a bit of honey over the top and sometimes mix in a bit of unsweetened cocoa, or add fruits if I had them around.

My FAVORITE breakfast is a breakfast burrito. I’m also veggie so I just scramble up an egg or two with chipotle Tabasco and some salsa, add I pinch of shredded cheese and roll it up in a flour tortilla. If you really want to splurge/be decent you can add sliced avocado or guacamole. Takes maybe a minute more than just scrambling eggs alone if you don’t add the avocado. If you prefer corn tortillas breakfast tacos are also great, just a little less portable.

An apple or banana with peanut butter is always classic. Dust with cinnamon to make it extra tasty.
