  • Has anyone done a clutch job on a manual transaxle?

The clutch starting slipping on my 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I'm really sad about it. I know the parts aren't expensive but the labor sounds intense.

If you've done a similar job, how long did it take?

Is there anything else I should do while I have the car ripped apart?

I have no idea, but maybe THIS will give you an idea of whether it is doable for you or not.

Its easy if you have a lift, the proper tools, and know what you're doing. Its much more difficult if you are missing one or more of those three.

For what its worth, I've pulled an engine and replaced an automatic transmission in my younger days . I also work on motorcycles on a regular basis. When the time come to replace my clutch in my truck, Im going to pay a shop to do it. Not worth the headaches and the hassle to me

I don't have a lift but I have everything else. Although the amount of time it will take me is a bit troubling. I love to research everything before working - that step alone may take 8 hours. I recently did the head gasket on this car. I spent sooo long on it. I probably could have worked on my actual job - paid to have it done - and came out ahead. It was a good learning experience though.
