Have you considered Emigrant Direct or any of the other banks online that offer a higher then 1/2% yeild? Find the banks that are giving away an opening cash bonus is always a big plus for me.

I have two local banks that are paying 3.68% and 4.14%. You shouldn't have any money in a place that is only paying 1/2 of a per cent. I read that Umbrella bank is now paying 4.6% for a minimum account of $1000.

There is a local bank I went to where they said they are paying 4.1% but they had an annual fee of $75. I couldn't believe it! Told them no thank you. I have heard that trying to get your money from Emigrant Direct sometimes you get a hassle getting your money when you would like to take it out. Is this true?

I can't believe a bank would charge an annual fee?? I never heard of that.

AN ANNUAL FEE?!?!?!?! You should write their customer service and blast them for that!!!!! My goodness!!!!!
ING is good - but doens't have the good rates like Emigrant and recently people have discovered better then Emigrants rates too.. it helps to look around...

Wow geeze that would eat up the interest.

However some people might not notice if that said that there was a said monthly fee of $5 or $6 that come onto the account.

I've had no problems getting money out of Emigrant Direct. As seamless as it goes it, it came back!

I wouldn't pay a penny of annual fee, or monthly fee. Too many places provide the same service at the same high interest rate for free.

Sorry, I invest in the vice fund. It is totally politically incorrect, but it's the only stock fund I have that is making money. I throw all my change into three jars; one goes to the Vice fund, one to my church and one to another charity which I pick when the jar gets full.
