One easy way would be to buy generic instead of name brands. Its all the same thing, name brands just cost more.

The list definitely helps..I start out with all the important stuff (eggs, milk, toiletries, etc) and also add a few rewards for myself (ice cream, chocolate, chips, etc) which are also on the list. After that, I just go straight to the counter!

I use peapod and have it delivered. I bypass all the flashy fake food and stick to my list. My husband and I eat for $65 a week on groceries (including delivery fee). 14 breakfasts, 14 lunches and 14 dinners. We get Chinese take out lunch combos every other week (additional 13 dollars). About $80 a month on toiletries and cat food and litter. We keep getting better and better at reducing the cost. We are now cutting down on how much we throw out and what can be used differently to re-use items.

HEADS UP!!!
This week most Safeway stores have the Fresh Express Salad Kits on sale for $2.50 each. In the monthly produce dept booklet there is a coupon for $2 OFF making each kit 0.50.
Each kit supposedly is enough for 3-4 people - i find it to be less BUT I like a BIG bowl of salad.
I LOVE any of the ceasar kits. Tried the asian this week 7 wan NOT happy. Lettuce was head only, no sign of pea pods, & dressing was too bland. thinking of trying the mexican BUT will check what type of lettuce. Don't like blue cheese so that one is out for me.
