Homemade HE laundry soap?

For years I used a very simple homemade laundry soap recipe. We recently purchase an HE washer and dryer when it was time to replace the old one. I am thrilled with them. The drying time is so fast compared to the old ones. However when we bought them it was stressed we could only use HE soap. After the purchase I had enough points on the Kmart/Sears club type card for 2 bottles of the HE soap free. I'm just wondering if anyone has any recipes for the HE laundry soap made at home. I really do think the recipe I was making was better than what I could buy.

HE detergent is all about low suds. I got a giant box of HE detergent but expect to go back to home made detergent when that is used up since suds are not an issue. I'd e-mail Naptha, 20 Mule Team or Arm & Hammer to ask about modification for your particular composition for detergent. Add baking soda to improve 'whites.'
