We have had slight (one application of zinc stuff each time it appears) to no diaper rash, and he is year old. It is also cheap!
I found that it works best for me if I do the following:

I found that it works best for me if I do the following:
- Use double rolls of paper towels. I have found Brawny double rolls work best
- Lower the water to 1 1/2 cups
- Use olive oil instead of baby oil, if you don't have baby oil
- Cut 3-4 of the paper towel rolls at a time so you have a stash
- put the water in the microwave for 4 minutes first...this will help retard mold growth. I haven't had any problem with mold growth, but some of the research I've done says people do have problems with it
