    Just a few comments:

Re: "Movies" being a large part of the topic
Of course movies are a large part, because the fact that waiting even a month to see a movie can save you 50% or more, and waiting a year can save you 99%. I've bought used movies on DVD for 50 cents. Assuming it's $50 to see the movie with DW in the theater, that's a 99% savings.

    Comment 2: Waiting on electronics
This one is a no-brainer. First adopters are not only paying premium fees, they're also betting on which technology will win. How many folks bought HD-DVD when it was competing with Blu-ray? Those machines were $800, just like the original Blu-ray players, and now they are absolutely worthless.

    Waiting on other things:
If you're in a buyers' market, then waiting will save you money, but if you're in a sellers' market, waiting means you might miss out on a good buy. I think that the former is much more likely than the latter, so I wait. One thing I've found is that "whatever goes up, always comes down" does not apply to new car prices. It does, however, apply to real estate on occasion.

Seriously for two people?! I haven't been to the movies in over 11 years and can't fathom paying that much. I wait for DVDs or for finding old videos of movies I always wanted to see and never had a chance.

        Very true about needing patience.

Taking steps to decrease your utility bills can take months to reveal the savings and years before notable dollar amounts are realized (after initial costs) but if you really want to save it takes patience.

I have been to theaters where the tickets for first-run movies were over $12. Double that for admission (2 people) and assume you spend as much on the barrel of popcorn, the carton of Mike and Ike, and bucket of soda pop and you're approaching $50. I've never seen any item at the movie snack counter that didn't come in Brobdingnagian proportions.
