  • The cheapest way to get drunk

I'm not sure how appropriate this is, but I found it humorous that someone actually went through the the trouble to figure it out. So, for your entertainment (and for any college students that wander by) here are the cheapest ways to get drunk:

In the interest of safety, keep in mind that Everclear should not be consumed straight. So you do need to add in the cost of the mixer.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Everything on that lst reminds me of highschool. I will gladly spend a little extra and drink something that I can stomach.

I actually drink Carlo Rossi Merlot on occasion. It's really not bad but I'm far from a wine snob. The rest of that list reminds me of the local carryout on the corner from childhood.

We use Franzia wine each year for a retreat weekend we do.

And we use Everclear to make our homemade limoncello. That's the only good way to make it. You can use vodka but it isn't nearly as good.

2 Buck Chuck (Charles Shaw) wine at Trader Joes isn't bad at times. I will usually buy a bottle, open it up and try it and if it is good, go in and buy a bunch of bottles. The company basically buys the over produced grapes in California to make his wine. Charles Shaw wine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2 Buck Chuck is at least $3 around here. Also, not sure where they're getting their prices on the Franzia. Always a box of that in our refrigerator, but it cost no less than $14 these days.

Charles Shaw isn't bad. I've had worse $6-10 bottles of wine from the liquor store. IMO, you can get pretty good wine for $5.

-A bottle of wine will get me nice and drunk, so let's say $6.
-Four shots(?) of tequila will do the trick too. The tequila I buy is nice, $22 for 750 mL. So that's $5.87 to get drunk. I think that would hold true for most hard liquor. I could reduce my "drunk cost" by drinking cheap stuff, since I'm taking shots anyway.

Safe to say, I'm confident I can get drunk for under $7. Beer is probably the most expensive way to get drunk. If the goal is to get drunk, I don't drink beer. It leaves me feeling bloated.

If you ever find yourself in Atlantic City, the Mountain Bar at Bally's Wild West has a 24/7 happy hour. $2 shots, $3 beers, $3 mixed drinks. Not a bad way to go if money is tight. Plus they have girls dancing on the bar (like in Coyote Ugly) on Friday and Saturday nights.

We're on our way to Cape May, NJ in a few weeks for a small vacation. I think we'll stop at AC for a while and play roulette. Last time we played I doubled my money and my wife lost all hers at roulette, so we broke even.

Fun game to play but really lousy odds - 5.26% house advantage. Compare that to a game like blackjack with a house edge of about 0.45% (if you know what you're doing and depending on house rules).
