  • How do you prolong the life of your herbs?

I buy cilantro and Italian parsley regularly and end up having to throw away more than I would like. I've tried freezing it but it doesn't come out right for me and seems to lose its aroma and flavor.

Any good tips would be appreciated.

More than prolonging the life I used them up faster:

If I use cilantro for one recipe, I make a point to add them to soups and salads I eat during the week. I am also looking into juicing...

I have not try it, but I am told you can dried them up.

Grow your own. It is cheap and easy to start a little windowsill herb garden. Plant the 3 or 4 or 6 herbs you use most commonly and you'll always have a fresh supply and you'll save a bunch of money.

I place the bundles of cilantro and parsley in a large coffee cup that has two inches of water in it. Then I loosely place a plastic bag over it and the whole thing goes in the refrigerator.

Daylily: I'll try the later and will try to make cook more dishes that can use them. There is so much difference between fresh and dried although I will use the dried variety.

I defintely am going to attempt to grow it and use it as I need it.
