A couple other places to check is Best Buy mobile and amazon.com mobile. They sometimes have great deals on new phones.

I got my son who is 12 his first phone with Pure TalkUSA under the condition that he was to help pay for the bill by working in the yard and saving his money. I was nervous about it at first but it has been great! He really takes pride in this relatively small responsibility. Anyways I am a big time "research before you buy" guy so trust me I did my homework. I signed him up for the $10/month for 101 minute plan. I had an old AT&T phone I gave him which works with Pure Talk because they are on an AT&T platform. So free phone and $10/month plan. He has no problem helping pay for his bill. He also likes to see how many rollover minutes he can build up since they don't expire. It has been great.

Also, I grilled the customer service rep about hidden fees, activation fees, overages, etc. Well I have had the plan active for 5 months and I promise you my bill is exactly $10!!! That includes tax and everything. Trust me I was waiting for the surprises at the end of the month but there weren't any. He cant go over minutes because the phone just turns off. He can text as well without going over.

Sorry this was a long post but I have been very happy with the service and the responsibility it has taught my son really makes me proud. It's never too early to teach your children to be responsible with their money.

      Hope this helps guys!

FYI, just checked my sons balance for him on their website and they are now offering unlimited talk/text for $48, no contract as well and all taxes and fees included. And yes I grilled CS again about the fees and extra charges.

Just thought I would throw that out there

Actually disney, they do have fees there you just won't see them unless you cancel. as long as you pay for the specified time period, no problem. but if you decide you need to lower bills due to whatever reason you can't get rid of this debt until the contract expires or those lovely fees show their pretty little faces
