  • DIY vent cleaning?

Can home heating and AC ducts be cleaned as a DIY project?

I have removed the vents and stuck a vac hose in them. Make sure you check what is vac'ed up. Maybe get a lost diamond ring in there if your lucky.
On time there was a handfull of bullets.

My AC unit Blower has a side you can remove. and its was nasty. SCrubbed it and vac'd. You can drop some Oil in the blower motor plugs too while you in there

Maybe a pro would clean it better, But I felt OK about my work

I think professionals use a rotating brush to vacuum and clean off the sides of the ducts. At least that is what I thought I saw when they did mine once. I think a vacuum hose, might not get everything, since it can't loosen what may be attached to the sides of the ducts. It also can't reach all the way through the ducts.

I've had it done and it was pretty cheap. they have this big vac they plug into your system that sucks almost everything out.
