I love garage sales and I have started out this spring system in full force. I find that the following things are especially cheap at garage sales:

children's clothes
game board toys
dishes and cups
exercise equipment

I try to hit garage sales for people who are about to move as they are very motivated to get rid of everything.

I buy all my home interior at garage sales some kids clothes we found our medicine cabniets brand new in the box for $50 each they were 119 each at lowes my friend got a hot tub for 150 at a yard sale last year and it was in perfect condition hooked it up and it worked

ive stated before, but with lots of posts it may of been missed. keep a yard sale kit in your car. batteries of all sizes, a screwdriver a plug for in the car too, i also keep a mini book of everything about our house, size of windows and how many, size of rooms, doors, everything. divided by rooms, i know if theres new carpet at a sale, ill peek in my book and know if it would fit. princess like curtains, my daughters room has one large window, i have the size in the book, ill know if its worht it, if its a good size. i dont like to buy puzzles at yard sales, never know if its missing a piece. however if its a kids puzzle, 24 pieces, i will count those and got four diff walt disney ones at a yard sale for 25 cents each. knowing the dimensions of your doorways too, will save you buying something you cant get into your house to start wtih.lol

Wow! love the garage sale book/kit idea.

I love garagle sales for buying children's books. Often I make an offer on all the books at a sale (like $3-5 for a whole box) and sort them out later. New books cost that much a piece! You can even turn around and sell them on ebay for a profit. -L

You mean it's garage sale season somewhere? We still have LOTS of snow and bitter cold . I love garage sales and plan on hitting several for summer clothes for DS2. Some of his favorite toys came form garage sales and I will resell them when he is done (unless we get another little one to play) I went to one last year where they actually limited the number of people allowed in at one time!! That was way to "professional" for me!

I hate going too princess perky. I am going to have one this spring, but it bugs me that people show up so early. I don't want people out there at 6 or 7 when the sale does not start until 10 am. Last time I blocked off my driveway so they could not park and would not let anyone in early. I mean, I put, no early sales in the newspaper.
They especailly like to come to a really nice neighborhood.

Our area is very popular for yard sales. We had a sale last year and I'm currently getting things together to have another sale this year. I enjoy them.
I also plan on hitting the sales very heavy this year so that I can resell a few things on ebay. I have two small girls so I always look for clothes for them as well. I can't wait for yard sales to start up again.

I am kind of doing one now, in a way. Since I am selling my house, I am listing everything I need to sell from the house on our local on line classified ads. So far I have made $197 since last Friday by selling clothes, toys, exercise bike and outgrown outside toys. What I like about listing them online is, I can control the price, I can put CASH FIRM in my listing, I give my address only to the people I want to give it too, and I tell them when to come over. I remove the ad as soon as they show up and get the item.

I love garage sales! in fact, I'm quite addicted to them. I scrapbook and have found some great stuff at garage sales for scrapbooking...a lot cheaper than I would get in the store.

i have a tool box just for garage sales, screwdrivers, batteries, plug for lighter, im ready to test anything and my lil book has all that i have at home and sizes. such as the dimensions of the windows, how many, which rooms, etc. light switches doors and all.

I really dislike regular shopping, like in a Mall or Traget or somesuch, but I get a kick out of garage sales. Two or three in a row will have nothing, then one will have a super find. Such as: Huge bottle of glycerin (good for bath supplies) for a quarter, beautiful marble pepper shaker (I'd been looking for a decent priced one for months) for a quarter, canning jars for $1 a box, cast iron skillets for $2, etc. I see alot of kids stuff-If I was a parent I would clothe my kid 90% from garale sales-the stuff looks so unworn, like the kids grew out of it before they wear it out.
