Re: Things I don't pay for

I don't pay for Swiffer refills, I just use used dryer sheets. I don't pay for dust cloths, I cut up my husband's stained t-shirts. I go as far as using the soy sauce packets from take-out Chinese at home. They give you so many, I would never just toss them.

I don't buy those either. I use and re-use microfiber clothes (8 for $4 from Walmart - in the automotive aisle). The fit nicely on the Swiffer and I think they work a lot better than Swiffer refills.

i use washclothes for my swifter. I keep one soaking in bleach/soap water, and one I use. About halfway through the kitchen floor, I switch them out. I just throw them in with the next load of whites.
For my hardwood floors, I keep my washclothes soaking in a pine oil solution inbetween uses. When they get dirty, they get washed with dirty overalls or rags (here on the farm, I wash rags about every 3-4 weeks)

We have boatloads. DH is a smoker and every time he picks up a pack from the convinience store they give him a book (or mini box, depending on what they have behind the counter at the time). I guess he went in there too many times without a lighter and asked for some cuz' now they just give them to him even if he doesn't ask.

I had some leaking taps and a mate leant me the equipment to fix it. So instead of a big plumbers bill I only had to buy the washers.

i'll bet you don't pay for air. unless you go to one of those fancy oxygen bars. or someone in your home might be on oxygen, in which case i have firmly wedged my foot in my mouth

Funny that! My dear F-I-L lived with us before he passed away. He was on oxygen, but before I called the home health company to come pick up the equipment I had myself a breath or two.

Now, now - just a little 'nip!

I had heard Kirstie Allee (sp?) talking about it once as an aid to the skin, so I had to give it a little nostril test! I'm not sure how it works but hey, it was worth a shot...but shuckydarns, the wrinkles were still there!

My morning coffee when I'm on the road.

I find it far more relaxing to stop at a park and have my coffee before heading into the day's meetings than to stop at a shop and be amongst all the noise. I take my flask and can stop at any interesting place along the way. Since it is a ninety minute trip many mornings I get to see lots of interesting places.

The bonus is that I arrive at the meetings refreshed.

How to relax and enjoy your budget

I don't buy the town trash bags that are required where I live ($1.50/bag). DH got permission to throw our trash in the dumpster at work. They said they have to pay a set price for pick up 2x's a week whether it is full or not!

I buy the the cheapy trash bags for the large kitchen trash can and use grocery bags for the bathrooms and baby's room.
