Re: Most outlandish frugal thing you did

I will never take a packet I know I won't use with the offered meal. I happily use all packets put in my take out orders, and sometimes I overestimate packets I might need (I take three sugars and use two) but I don't take packets for later on purpose, I don't feel right about that.

I usually bring home the kleenex and unopened toilet paper when I stay in a motel room. I figure if I am paying $100 a night, I deserve the kleenex and toilet paper.

Oh Yes, I do bring home the shampoo and soap, but I don't smoke.

Don't forget the iron and the lamp. Unfortunately the TV is bolted down.

                Good job!
I would get home, unload everything and come back for more. If you would take i out of boxes and stuff in the fridge, it would take less space. You coul stock up your freezer too. So, for the next 2-3 weeks you wouldn't have to go grossery shopping except maybe some fruits and vegetables and drinks.

I got some free bread from Albertsons yesterday in a similar way. Got a coupon at the checkout when I was buying something else. Came back, got another one. I didn't have lots of time to spend there, so I got only 7 breads. Well, I have 2 more coupons, so I will get more when we are done with this one. I hope they will still print the coupons next week.
Sometimes when I go shopping, I go to the fast food place next door just to get napkins and sugar. Love it! Hope I will never have to buy sugar or napkins again. Saves me about $2 on napkins and probably 25c on sugar (depends how often I bake, and I bake much less or not at all if I can get a free bread).

I always get a couple extra Splenda packets when I am out at a fast food or coffee house. I don't feel too guilty, I only take 2-3 extras but the 2.00 I am spending on the coffee house experience makes me feel a little better about taking their Splenda

                    BADBADBAD!!!

We eat out every night. I take a few splenda packs too. My husband has cut out all sugar, but still likes sugar on french toast, so he uses splenda. Since we don't use it for anything else, I just take a few once every few weeks! I sometimes take a few extra napkins at Wendy's.

I use every drop of hair product or perfume I buy.

I was milking every bit of my hair serum (its cheap!) and my boyfriend tossed the bottle. I had the bottle hanging upside down and everything

I used to put forks into the window seal to hold up my sheet over the window. I was too poor for curtains and too poor for curtain rods.

So, a fork and some old sheets works nicely.

I can't believe some of you say you take extra TP from public restrooms when you go out. That is stealing in my eyes. I used to own/manage/direct a couple of businesses--a non-for profit daycare center, video store and a gas station. I finally had to close the bathrooms off to customers after going thru 6 rolls of TP in one day at the video store, during a 12 hour period. I only had 2 clerks working, and i know they didn't use 6 rolls that day. It was taken by the customers. That, causes small business owers to raise their prices, and then everyone pays. Its also down right rude, and sets a bad example to your children. I wonder if those same people take office supplies and such from their employers. What if i came to your house and took TP???

i don't take toilet paper from public restrooms. If I am on a trip, I might take a handful to put in my purse in case the next place is out of tp. However, I usually carry a few napkins from the fast food place!

I totally agree with you on this lrjohnson. We have packets of things around here...but it is from take home, not from dine-in.

IMO- taking anything extra from places for the sole purpose of having extra at home ADDS TO THE FUTURE COST of these services. Companies set fees to cover expenses and to make a profit... If the expenses cut into the profit because people are taking more than they should, the fees will go up- plain and simple.

It is frustrating that services are limited or eliminated because people take things for personal use.
