  • For girls ONLY

No really I mean it if you are a guy go away

So I just went to the store and spent about 25$ plus tax on some 'feminin needs' How do you manage not to break the budget on this sort of thing? I have been sort of out of the loop for some time, since I was pregnant or nursing for so long.

I use Walmart brand products - they are great and SO much cheaper. I thought I could do well with doubled coupons, but the no frills Walmart brand is still cheaper. I'm hoping you got a 6-month supply for $25!!!

I use a Keeper now - better for the environment AND the wallet.

umm, that would be a big change! Not sure if I could do that. Not sure if I would feel comfortable asking my DH for the money.

I just had to laugh at, "No really I mean it if you are a guy go away". I'm assuming that it made the men want to come in & peak just because they were told not to.

At one time, I used homemade pads just to see if I could do it. Since I am basically a tampon user, I hated it. Did it for about 4 months just to recoup the cost of materials.

At the same time, I did it for toilet paper. But only for the wet stuff. I used diaper wipes & just washed them. After a short time, 4 months, it becam too tidous for me. But it's nice to know that I could if I couldn't afford tp. It beats air drying or dripping like men.

Prolly did but there ain't a darn thing I can do about them checking here, and after reading the content, I image most men wish they had stayed away.

I understand the trepidation - it took a couple of cycles to get used to it, but now I cannot imagine going back! I can be away from the house all day and not worry about having enough supplies with me. Wiith a lighter flow, you can be away for hours and not even give it a second thought.

As for asking Dh for the money - I'm not sure I follow you. $40 to cover menstrual needs for 2-3 years? He would balk, somehow? That, and asking for money, period - I don't follow you.

I use a Keeper also, and have for the last 6 or 7 years. In all that time I have only once had to purchase disposable products -- one time when 'Aunt Flo's' visit came a little early when I was out of town and unprepared. Gee, I should try to add up and estimate my savings over the years -- it would probably make my day.....

Well as for asking, I would need to use a credit card, and explain the reason to him. He would understand and allow it no problem. But I would have to talk about it! Typing to total strangers is one thing, talking to my DH, the man who is supposed to think I am the sexiest person in the world, is a completly different matter!

As far as asking, I don't spend money without him, he doesn't spend it without me. Though occasionally telling him after the fact is fine (no need to ask for a buck and whatnot) I still don't allow money to dissapear and hope he wont notice or anything.

BTW thanks for the alternative, though I am still chicken.

Wouldn't he understand and enjoy the savings it brought you?

I have some buddies that use sea sponges. It does have a "yuck" factor to it though. Another person that I know of uses cotton cloth (with the same "yuck" factor). They say that they just wash them and put them back in.

I also have a keeper, but I have a tilted uterus and fibroids. It leaks just slightly. I should check and see if it still leaks since I had the UAE for the fibroids.
