Re: How often to you have to clean to keep your house clean?

It's hard to make them sit at the same place for longer than 5 min. They would eat for a few min, and then run. So I just put some fruit and veg pieces on the table, and some cereal, so they could take it whenever they want.

For all three meals plus two snacks?

I mean I let the kids snack like that on occassion, but the three meals are in the chair...Was quite a challenge to get DD to do it, but rather easy for DS..all kids are different...I just think that would be one battle I would choose...The sitting, not the eating.

I clean everyday as well..not to the point of perfection, but with two shedding cats and a hairy golden retreiver I have to vacume each day or it drives me bonkers..I also clean the kitchen

My mom told me once when asked about house cleaning "make sure its clean enough to be healthy, but dirty enough to be happy" Thats a rule I have always followed

I need to do a thorough clean once a week and if I cook the whole kitchen needs to be washed down, floors swept and mopped. (I'm a messy cook) would love a cleaning lady but how do you afford it? Here in PA its $35-$45 an hour and those are the cheap ones!

Our children are grown and out of the house. The house is cleaned thoroughly once a week. Between cleanings the house is clean enough for people to visit.

Experience taught me the less stuff, the easier the upkeep. Try it as an experiment between now & Thanksgiving, only daily use items on table, counter, bureau. It's important to get everyone involved. Keep it simple, 15 minute babystep segments. Everyone participates in 9:00 PM, 15 minute tidy in public rooms; AM make bed, tidy bthrm. ETE eliminate the evidence, if you use it - put it back; before you eat, put away the makings, everyone takes their tableware to sink/DW. Anyone over 12 y/o is capable of doing their own laundry or suffer the [re-wear] consequence. Who ever cooks lets others clean. Swiffer/damp mop kitchen flr. before turning out light!

The point is to keep it simple. Please, even if they can't/don't do the task to your standard, offer a ton of praise and refrain from re-doing.

Major stuffs like Windows, move furniture and appliances once a month. Everything else about once a week. 3 bedroom 2 story house. Yes, cleaning allows me to vent, also enjoy time alone as everybody leaves the house on cleaning day.

I always wanted to have a clean and organize place. Since I have no time to do that, I ask help from a reliable cleaning company that offers great service. Their ménage are respectful and always on time.

when I was a single working mom, I found the most wonderful cleaning lady, $30 a shot for a 3 story townhouse. Had her every other week. I gave her so many referrals, she has never raised my rate.

when I bought a house with the folks to make caring for my mother easier, she stayed with us (she had been cleaning my parents' place, too). When I got sick and the bottom fell out here for a good 9 months, she was a saint. She is very close to my mom, she helped her with a million things. She drove me to MD appts. Anything and everything. We could never pay her enough.

I had her every other week but honestly my parents aren't as tidy so every week is better. My aunt hired her to do my parents' laundry. So she spreads stuff out over two weeks.

Best move I ever made as a singe mom, Saturdays were not mom cleaning the house and then being cranky and tired anymore.

In terms of cleaning the house (we're not talking laundry or other chores) it takes my wife and I about 7 hours each a week to keep it up to her standards (which are pretty darn high lol). I guess we spend about an hour a day each cleaning and that helps to stay on top of things!

i DID flylady, but since we moved, i 'fell off the wagon' I have vowed myself to start fresh with lace up shoes and work from there. i keep telling my husband that this house did not get this messy overnight and it isnt going to get clean that fast either. we have 4 kids so i am not sure it ever will...but i'll keep trying. a little each day is better than nothing.
