I have no money....What to do?

So recently I had the unfortunate event of losing my job. I've been searching for a new one but i dont have much experience and I dont want to be stuck back into the food industry. My boyfriend also does not have a job and we ran out of money and food this past week. We have exhausted all resources to get money for food. I also do not want to rely on the government to pay for my food via foodstamps. I also dont think I could get them even if I tried. Is there a way that I could get some money?

If you are starving go to a church and ask if they will feed you. Maybe someone there can give you a job.
If you get hungry enough you will work in the food industry. It might not be so bad. If there are leftovers you may be able to chow down.

1. Beggars can't be choosers. If you have no job and no money and a food service job is available, why would you not take it? That makes no sense. Work is work. If it pays the bills and puts food on the table, you need it whether you like it or not.

2. If you truly "ran out of money and food this past week", how are you surviving? Did you eat today? I don't mean to be smart but I'm just curious about the true extent of your situation.

Try offering work for food for friends and neighbors...and the church...and well a job beats no job, so like dude said, go work in the food industry while looking for a better one.

In the meantime, got flour> and water? make 'unleavened bread' if you have some spices or oil you can even make it taste better.

go online for some frugal recipies and fudge to use whatever you do have (ketchup on pasta beats starvation)

If I was in that situation (which I have been before) I would take the food service job until something better comes along. Most churches have food banks to help you out in times of need too. I think I would also consider giving up internet service and go to the grocery store.

Find the biggest baptist church in your town. They are notorious for being generous with their foodbank... at least in my opinion.

Take a job where you can get one so that you can survive. It's always easier to find a job when you already have one. Not really, but it seems like it takes less time because your excess time is occupied.

I agree beggars can't be choosers. When I was in college I worked at a video arcade (Hated It!!) and Pizza Hut while taking a full course load because I had to. You and BF could probably find something temporarily in food~beats starving.

Go find a temp agency - one that pays the day you work.

OR get that food service job and then think about going back to school so you are eligible for higher paying jobs than just those in the food service industry.

I would think that no money and no job does make you eligible for unemployment if you are located here in the US if you go apply for it. Also the food stamps. You may not want to rely on it long term and I applaud you for that, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use it when you need it most.

I second the baptist church idea.

Go to the public library and use their newspaper to search out the want ads &/or go online there to research jobs, update your resume and get out there and get stumping for any work - now is not the time to be too proud!

What is wrong with the food service industry? I think our society needs to respect people no matter what job they have. Every job is valuable otherwise they wouldn't need to pay someone to do it. Personally, I have more respect for someone who works for a living cleaning toilets, etc than for someone who has figured out how to glom off the "system". We need to restore the value and appreciation for the work of others.
I am sure that working in food industry can be a stressful, busy job. But, all jobs have their moments. You may not want to be there, but in order to get ahead, one has to take the opportunities they have. Get a job, do your best, and by all means look for another job in whatever you are interested in doing.

Try a food bank or a soup kitchen not glamorous but they will feed you. Also I understand your desire not to be trapped in a food service job. They are true traps. Good Luck and my prayers are with you.

Collect aluminum cans
take the food service job
Don't be too proud to take assistance from the government if you need it.
Ask yourself if you would rather be too proud or too hungry.

I have worked at McDonald's, they are always hiring. I also agree with the churches. I live in a small town, but the bigger churches are always giving out food. I wish you luck.

Right now, you need to focus on getting a job, even if its the food industry, you NEED income. You think its bad now, wait a little more, and all your utilities go off.

In the time being, what do you mean you lost your job, you may be elgible for unemployment to get you back on your feet to find another job, same for you boyfriend. I wish you the best of luck.

Also a church may be able to help feed you.
