I have a number of areas where I set goals. This helps me keep focused on what I want to accomplish. I don't always reach the goals, but I do try my best to make them become a reality. These are the 6 areas I made goals for this year:

Finances/Saving Money
Website(s)
Work
Want to do (adventure)
Want to buy
Marriage

I jot down 5 - 10 that come to my mind. Most of them I know because I have thought about them, but this gets it down on paper so I can see what I need to do those few moments that I actually think I have some free time. It is also a good way to keep me from vegging away in front of the TV

Pay off as much debt as possible and get DH on the plan. LOL. (talk him into NOT having a wedding. I'm weird eh?)

writing goals and bills down and LOOKING at them 3 or 4 times a week really really helps. it keeps u focused, but u do have to look at both to be realalistic.

Thats not weird, but you can have a wedding without spending much... for example we had no money when hubby n I got married, we used a chapel at a hospital for free, we useda pastor who preached at homeless church (my grandfathers pastor, and no my grandfather is not homeless just the church he attends) and he did not charge us although my husband tipped him $50..... my sister paid for the reception which was $200 for a 3 course meal, a small restaurant in town it was a family only affair!!! then my dress was $100, on sale from $800..... SO If I had to pay for everything it would have cost us $350 + getting the marriage license..... not bad cosnidering most weddings today go for 50k and up!!

Never have I seen where anyone used a chapel in a hospital! Good for you!

Thanks and beleive it or not it was beautiful!!!! we even had a audience of nurses on their breaks watching!!!!

im wondering if anyone has done one with a potluck. everyone brings a dish? ive never married, so im just wondering. we do it for other gatherings, just wondered if that would be in bad taste?

back in the dark ages when I was married

................I had a wedding but held the line at spending much. We planned a reception at the church with a cake & coffee (mom & I made the cake as that was one of her gifts) and I used my parents cake topper to be really cheap.
I invited the people that were much closer to come to the house that evening for a pot luck. It worked great. I provided some of the basics, but divided the group up per last name, ie; salad, main dish, dessert, etc.... We had a great time, it was more fun that something formal, at least for our family. The house held a bunch of people...........our only problem was parking.
