I just started using Priceline to book hotels and used "name your price" for a rental car, I punched in 13 bucks a day and have reservations for that price, I plan to use it for the rooms on this trip too, I'm already seeing rooms that I can go as low as $35/$40 on, I had budgeted for $75/$80 roomsd

I've never used Priceline.
For hotels, I'm just way too particular to blindly let them choose where we will be staying.
We do have a trip coming up this summer where we will need a rental car, though. I might give it a try for that as I'm not picky at all for that. As long as the car is the size we need, I'm fine. I don't care which company it is from.Steve

I always pick hotel brands/names ive stayed at before. Even then sometimes the hotels arent that great. I couldnt imagine letting someone decide for me based on how much I want to spend.
No thanks...im not rich but I have enough money where saving $15/night isnt worth sleeping with roaches and having crack whores greet me each time I open my door to leave.

1. Location: I want to know EXACTLY where we will be. Is it close to the attractions we are going to see? Is it close to public transportation we plan to use? Is it next to the train tracks?
2. Brand: We are Marriott Gold Rewards members. I'm pretty sure you don't get points when booking through Priceline. That's a huge negative to us.
3. Exact amenities: Does the hotel include breakfast? That's a biggie.
Stuff like that matters a lot to us when we travel.Steve

Not sure what the specific radius is for their name your price deal, but when we checked out their website many years ago it was too large of an area for our liking when we were planning a trip to visit the in-laws.
There were definitely some options on the bad side of town that we weren't willing to get stuck at. Also, when we visit the in-laws we have several locations we have to visit. Having a convenient hotel location was a necessity for us.

Breakfast is also usually a must for us. Just for the convenience factor. The amount of sugar I consumed last week at the hotel was horribly wonderful. I never eat that death cereal (lucky charms/fruit loops/frosted flakes) unless im at a hotel...then its game on!
