  • Has anyone had their Facebook account hacked?

Somebody managed to get in, changed my password and recovery email. I've gone down the "Upload Your Driver's License" step three times, and each time I try to re-access my account with the security links they email me, I get a page where I'm asked to enter a 6 digit code. Evidently, this guy set up 2FA with a random code generator like VIP Access or something.

I've created a dummy account just to investigate things, and now I can't find my old account, and it doesn't appear in the friends' list of anyone that I was friends list. So I'm not sure if this guy deleted my account, or if he set it to private so it wouldn't appear on Friends lists, or if Facebook flagged it and disabled it because I kept reporting it as hacked.

Basically, I'm wondering if there's any point in trying to recover the account, is there something else I can do. Does Facebook Security have an email address that people actually respond to?

No idea how to solve the problem for you, gratefully I've only had to deal with getting an account hacked once or twice, and never when they've gotten through 2FA protocols... However, I've generally heard that FB is pretty responsive to shutting down hacked accounts. A few friends who have dealt with it just recreated an account & rebuilt their friends network, albeit a little more carefully.

Of course, you could always treat it as a blessing in disguise -- freedom from the grips of overreaching social media? Sounds like a bit of a dream.
