  • Looking to buy a tablet, any advice?

Hi, I'm in the market for a tablet, and am looking for advice and opinions beyond the reviews and ratings I have seen.

The primary use will be e-book reading, followed by web browsing, netflix, youtube, and a few games. For various reasons, I do not want an Apple product, and have gravitated more toward the Samsung Galaxy Tab A series. My brother had a 9.7" and moved up to a 10.1" and said it made a huge difference. My eyesight is not great, so having more real estate would be nice.

An addition to that, I am also curious if it makes sense to use a new store-only credit card. These are the kinds they offer at check-out to entice you with a certain percent off. I would never use it again, and am very in tune with the terms. I'd likely buy from Best Buy. Thoughts?

Finally, not sure about timing, but I'm wondering if these go down in price after the holidays.

Would you be doing that only for the discount? If so, I'd suggest just buying discounted gift cards at giftcardgranny.com and not messing with another credit card. The discount might not be quite as big but the transaction is cleaner. Right now, they have cards for 5% and after the holidays it will probably be higher when demand drops. You also get the reward points or cash back on your credit card for buying them so that's at least 6% off.

I don't think Best Buy offers a percentage off the final price with the opening of a Best Buy card. Basically they offer you your choice between getting a percentage back in rewards or interest free financing (term can vary from 6, 18, or 24 months depending on how much you spend). Higher end tablets like cell phones are largely the same price no matter where you buy them. They tend to go on sale when the manufacturer releases a new model or upgraded version of that model.

Thanks. The model I am looking at is 229, and I know I am getting a Best Buy gift card for Christmas. I guess I'll see if it drops more, I'm really not in any hurry, so I can wait a month or so to see it go below 200.
