  • Fire your Samsung Note 7 before it fires you!

Dump the note 7 if you have it!! Airlines are banning these things, and there is a recall from Samsung.

For those who are holding on to their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 because they don't want a different phone, or because they think that their unit won't explode, or because they are waiting to exchange it for the new Galaxy Note models, let this be a warning to you. St. Petersburg, Florida resident Nathan Dornacher and his family were unloading his Jeep of some purchases made at a yard sale. He left his Galaxy Note 7 inside the car...
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

It's rather unfortunate that the Note 7 itself is taking the brunt of this, because according to this article, one can surmise that the real issue is originating from specific battery suppliers.

Otherwise, there isn't technically anything wrong with the Note 7 per se.

However, battery fires are not new, and have plagued many other brands of phones and laptops in the past, even when they too are not directly to blame.

Samsung made the right call by swiftly issuing a global recall, even though they knew it could cost them in their race against the iPhone 7.

Further complicating the recall is today's phones being physically married to their batteries rather than being removeable. Otherwise, such recalls would have been much, much easier. Then again, it's been a long time now (tech-wise) since phones with removeable batteries roamed the lands.
