I have always wanted to learn how to fence. I went to my first lesson today and loved it! We covered the basics and even did a few bouts - I got destroyed off course. The price was amazing - $10 for two and and half hours with equipment rental.

It was a great workout too.

Interesting! I've never even seen fencing in real life.

That's outstanding! I've also been interested in it for a long time, but except in college (no way I'd have made the school's team), I've never been around a fencing gym... Definitely have fun, and you can't beat that price!

The place I went to uses various senior centers, community centers, and similiar places. There is another club in town that has their own place. However, you have to pay by the month and they only teach one of the three types of fencing.

Fencing is awesome. I have been fencing on and off for about 10 years but had to stop recently because of an injury. There are loads of friendly clubs you can join.

I remember taking fencing in college - the most important thing I remember is to forget every movie fight scene you have ever watched (except the fight scene in The Great Race, the fencing and saber fights are perfect. Oh, whenever you have to stand for awhile sink down into the fencing stance (called horse stance in martial arts) because those muscles are going to really get a workout.
