  • Need TX vacation help-quick

This was supposed to be happening in July, now its happening this week.....

Husband is going to TX to A&M for fire school, and taking us. Instead of taking the work provided air flight, he opted to drive instead, and they will pay him the price of the ticket. Work is also paying for the hotel, and we are taking an air mattress for the kids.

Who can tell us what free or cheap things are in that area?? College Station or Bryan TX??? Hopefully, he can carpool, or we can take him to school and keep the vehicle. I ordered TX info, with the original July date in mind....it won't get here in time before we leave this weekend.

Hopefully the hotel has breakfast. I plan on taking a cooler and snacks for the trip. We know how to vacation on the cheap, we just don't know what that area has to offer.

    Thanks!!

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

There's is a really neat park out there called Veteran's park. We went there for a rugby tournament. Has all sorts of military statues and memorials throughout the park. Also had its own version of "the wall" that listed soldiers from Texas who died. Has a walk of history, where you follow the sidewalk all around the park and it has bricks that list key events in history in US history. Very beautiful park

Thanks-the park looks like a possible good picnic place. We homeschool, so that is right up our alley to combine fun with learning!
