  • Website Redesigning

Well, the first thing I will tell you that I would not do. Stay away from flashing things. They are a distraction and a irritating to boot. A fairly clean page with some well put pictures is the best way to go. I don't know what type of website you are going to do and that will matter. Can you elaborate on at least the content? like a personal site, or a selling site (without disclosing your item) or whatever.

Stock photos borrowed from a free site tend to BORE me to death. They also lead me to question the credibility of the website owner. I think that is because I see them so often on websites that don't really have anything substantial to say but are just blathering while the real hope is to make money serving up google ads or a selling worthless e-book. So, um, I don't know if other people would agree, but go easy on the stock photos and clip art, and if you have an e-book to sell, please be engaging and intelligent on the website.

The best suggestion I can make is google your competitors. Find a site or two that you find really appealing to you and use it as a guide to design your own site.

A good website has a lot more to do with good content than glitz. Even ugly websites can do well if the content is good. Content is King!

If you want good templates google free websites and look around there are lots of them available.

What I hate about certain sites is black or dark-colored background and white or light-colored text. It's called the negative effect, I think. It's really hard on the eyes.

My advice is to use a free CMS system like Joomla where you can change the look and feel of a website by installing free or payable templates. You can get free photos from wikimedia commons - can't post link because I'm note senor enough yet
